Matters are decided by a majority vote (abstentions are allowed) of the members present at the meeting, subject to there being a quorum of 250/0 of members in good standing. A quorate meeting of the members and trustees may exercise all its powers which indude the management of the charity and the control of the trust fund. The members and trustees may delegate their powers to suitable committees for the running of certain aspects of the club's operations. Grants and donations are made to worthy causes after due diligence to ensure that the cause is bona fide. Potential grant recipients are required to complete a request form explaining why they require the finanaal assistance and some suttable information on the organisation/individual concerned. Grants and donations are then subJ￿t to votes by the members. Other forms of expenditure (running costs etc) are also subject to discussion and votes by members. Section C - Objectives and activities Objects The object of the dub is to apply its income for any purpose that is charitable according to the current laws of England and Wales. The income will be for the benefit of any individual, group of •• individuals, organisations or other charities. Public benefit In accordance with section 17(5) of the Charities Att and the Chaiities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008, the trustees confirm that they are in conformity with this guidance on public benefit when undertaking cu￿ent activities, planning future activities and in reviewing the club's aims, objectives and acknvities. The trustees consider that the dub satisfies the public benefit reqU1￿ments as established by current charity law. Achievement of objects The main Sour￿ of income for the aub is from a second -hand bookshop operating from premises •• leased from an adjacent hotel. Other sources of income are derived from the running of a car boot sale, coffee momings and on&off events. The dub owns a Santa Sleigh and uses it as a means of collecting donations and is available for local sthools and children's groups for the entertainment of children during the Christmas period. The club runs a Talking Newspaper Service and during the year has continued to improve its digital systems. Alnwick Lions Club Charity Number 1178346 Trusteeg Annual Report (contd) For the Year to 30 June 2021 Section D- Achievements and perfornian Summary Although the bookshop income for the year to 30 June 2020 was eamed in the Trust, this income determined the amounts transferred to the CIO so the comparattves used in this summary will be bel￿een the bookshop income in the CIO compared with the 2020 income in the Trust. Detailed bookshop accounts are to be found in note 3 in the notes to the accounts. The bookshop income has improved &gnificantly from 2020, with an increase overall of £ 11027. This was because of fewer Covid-19 pandemic lod(downs, the completion of repairs to the hotel gateway and the consequent improvement in access to the bookshop from the main Anwid( shopping street. The CIO received a further £10240 under the CoNid-19 Retail Grant Scheme. Bookshop expenditure increased by £1020. This was due to efforts to improve bookshop signage (£1577) offset by reduttions in electriaty and rates (rates reduced to nil as part of the government efforts to assist business during the pandemic). Car boot income improved by £396. Grants and donations received were also reduced by £1,060. Efforts have been made this year to improve the Santa Sleigh by instslling a new portable quiet generator, inverter and amplifiers at a cost of £2484. This is to improve the reliability and sound quality of the Christmas music played on the sleigh. Charitable grants and donations made did redu￿ by £3744: the disruption of the CovFd-19 pandemic resulted in reduced grant requests. Section E- Finanaal review Policy on reserves The greatest financial risk to the charity is the loss or severe reduction in bookshop income. The Reserves Policy refletts this. The policy is to retain enough fijnds to SUDPOrt the Talking Newspaper senrice for one year and bookshop running costs for six months. In addition, enough funds will be retained to support the Car Boot, Sleigh acknvities and to support some parkncuSarly urgent andlor deserving charitable requests. This would be in the region of £5000 as at 30 June. Investment policy The charity has its cash ￿$OUrceS in cu￿ent bank accounts and does not feel the need to hold any other investments. There is, therefore, litue risk from investments. Preservation of chaiity assets The charity's assets are propedy insured, and the risk minimised in this area. Insurance is provided by Lions Club intemational and in additron the nornial Public and other liabilities the Club has £20,000 cover for its equipment and other fixed assets.

Alnwick Lions Club Charity Number 1178346 Trustees. Annual Report (contd) For the Year to 30 June 2021 Financial risk The main risk is that the Trusts bookshop activitses would cease by failing to acquire a new lea forcing the bookshop to close or relocate. Post 30 June 2021 we acquired a new signed Lease dated 2 December 2021. Section F- Future developments Efforts will continue to be made to improve bookshop income as well as improving the Talking Newspaper facility and in(Teases in car boot activty. Consideration is also being given to opening a regular market stall in ￿nwICk, rent free. The charity is also improwng its grant maknng prO￿dureS to ensure that grdnts are given promptly and in accordan￿ with the charities aims and objects. Section G - Other matte The trust is registered for Value Added Tax (VAT) and is also in receipt of Gift Aid. Section H - Relationship with related Charities The Club is part of the national ￿On$ b(xJy, knons aub Multiple District 105 (essentially the United Kingdom) Distritt 105 itself part of the worfdwide Lions International (based in the USA). The Distritt provides some template policies which local dubs such as Anwick Lions can adopt or not. Alnwick Lions will make its own th01￿S in ternis of fundraising and the choice of grantees (if these comply with current charity law in England and Wales). District 105 has sight of the accounts but has no direct input into the running of Alnwick ￿On5 Club. Dues are paid to the District and International (based on the number of registered members) for their support. At certain times Lions aub Intemational will call upon clubs to support worldwide disaster relief, which the individual clubs may or may not support. Donations in this area are done via the Districts. Signed Secretsry: Mark Baker ------------------------.------.---------- Signed TreaSu￿r. Anthony John Mindham ----.- ---- -- Date
