Irche5ter Player5 Charitable IncL)rporated Organisalion IRC ESTER Players IRC ESTER Youth Players Registered Charity Number 1178179 Annual Report April 2020 - April 2021

Trustees’ Foreword

It is our pleasure to foreword the 2020/2021 Annual Report of Irchester Players on behalf of the Committee and Members.

This is Irchester Players third Annual Report as a registered charity operating in England. However, it is in fact the organisation’s 43rd year of existence, and over those years, a rich tradition of bringing theatre to the communities of East Northamptonshire and the Parish of Irchester has been created. In our third year as a charity, we have unfortunately not been able to create any live theatre performance due to COVID-19. However, that does not mean we were un-active as a charity

The year, 2020/2021, has unfortunately not been fully active as a charity due to the global pandemic, meaning we have been unable to stage any performances. However, we continued to create online theatre and performance through the wonders of technology. We have thankfully been likely to continue in our additional divisions; Irchester Players Youth and Irchester Players Dance through online platforms and during points in person following government guidance.

During the pandemic, thankfully our governance has not changed at all with the exception of gaining another Non-Executive member when our AGM was held. We have continued to have our one special advisor who has remained with us throughout the year. Thankfully we have been able to continue with the operations of the charity as our financial position this year has maintained greatly, even with a very small amount of income coming in, majority of which has come from the membership. Without them we may potentially not be able to continue.

This Report documents key information about Irchester Players administration and governance; it highlights our activities and achievements over 2020/2021 that we were able to go ahead with. We also look to the future, as we set out our plans for next year providing we can go ahead.

Our financial accounts have been independently reviewed and are submitted alongside this Report.

Objectives and Activities

Irchester Players has three charitable objectives these are:

The Committee and membership of the charity have undertaken a number of activities that have sought to realise these objectives, these include those noted below.

Objective One

Unfortunately during the pandemic we were unable to stage any productions.

We continued to hold competitions throughout our membership to keep people engaged and active, as well as offering challenges to engaged positive wellbeing and mental health.

We were able to hold a read through and auditions for what we were thought we to be our next production of Dick Whittington, however after casting this was once again postponed.

Objective Two

During the pandemic, the day to day running of the charity had to stop, however we were able to continue with our Youth division, enabling us to meet our second charitable objective.

The members of Irchester Players Youth we able to continue to learn new skills and develop old ones thanks to online platforms. We were able to continue to teach routines and songs to the Youth division through live streams and have also been able to created virtual showcases. This included a ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ style showcase where Youth member put together a video of their skills, as well as a virtual music video to a poplar musical theatre song.

At time the Youth division were able to meet following Government guidance and we create various other showcase video footage which was able to be uploaded online for the audience to watch.

Objective Three

During the pandemic, this Objective was achieved once again through our Youth division which was able to continue through the use of online platforms.

The arts-based youth group, targets the youth of Irchester with the aim of providing them with a leisure time activity that will develop them as individuals whilst teaching them core skills in performing arts.

The youth group has in excess of 25 members, the majority of which live within the parish of Irchester.

The members were able to take part in online workshops and challenges throughout the pandemic to keep them fully active and engaged in the Performing Arts industry. We also continued to support wellbeing and mental health at these times through the activities that we operated.

Achievements

Even though we have not been fully functional there have been still been a number of notable achievements made by Irchester Players this year, these include:

Plans for 2021/2022

Event One: Dick Whittington – Our Annual Pantomime

Event Two: ABBA Tribute Night

Event Three: A Play - TBC

Event Four: Summer Ball

We will continue to monitor if these events are able to take place due to the current government guidelines.

We will continue to offer workshops and run Irchester Players Youth and Irchester Players Dance throughout 2021/2022. Additional fundraising events will be planned. In addition the charity may undertake additional events, organise socials and other activities throughout the year.
