Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The society has been able to hold
regular meetings enabling members to
further their interest in model railway
activities – building and operating
model railways, and also interest in
prototype railways.
An Open Day was held and advertised
on social media and in the Model
Railway Press to invite the public to
view the work of the Society. A number
of new members have joined the
Society, and also some Junior
members, accompanied by a
responsible adult family member have
been welcomed. This has provided the
opportunity to encourage the new
members in model railway activities.
The society has also supported other
Model Railway Societies by exhibiting
either Society layouts or members
personal layouts at their exhibitions.
The Society’s Annual Exhibition is the
main opportunity of engaging with the
wider public. The Exhibition for 2023
had to be cancelled at fairly short notice
because of the unavailability of the
venue due to building work. This also
had a significant impact on the
Societies income.
