The congregation maintains membership of the BaptlSt Union of Great Britain and the London Baptist A550ciation. HEATH STREET BAPTIST CHURCH ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS 2025 REPORT OF THE DEACONS Governance and management The church operates as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation under the rules of it5 ao constltutlon. At the end of the year there were 33 members of the church with no changes in the course of 2024. Quarterty church meetings are open to all interested people but on the relatively few occasions when votes are required only members may vote. Objecilves and actlvltles The principal purpose of the CIO is: The advancement of the Christian faith according to the principles of the Bapt15t denomlnatlon. The church may also advance education and carry out other charfjtable purposes in the UK andlor other parts of the world. Publlc beneflt statemenl As a regISted charity Heath Street Baptist Church, throuBh its members and its Diaconate, is aware of the Charlty Commission's guidance on public benefrt, especlally In the aancement of religion. Our ServiS of worship are open to all. We see our building as a valuable source to the local communty and it is open for artivty on most days of the year. The church premises are used, or hired, by people of all faiths or none and by both Secular and Christian organisations and groups. We provide artivf(ies and services directly each week to local children. from bables lo young teenagers, and to homeless and vulnerable people. We also offer toncerts (normally free entry) to the local communlty and support a community choir. Pastoral care and sUPPQrt are offered to all. Financial review The financial statements whlch follow show our Statement of Financial Activlty, Balance Sheet and a detailed breakdown of receipts and payments for 2025. New financial software, MyFundAccountin& provSded by Data Developments was used by the Treasurer this year for the first time. Our flnancial report's layout combines new reports generated by the software and further detail offered in previous years, format since only starting balances for 2025 were put Into the new software and therefore detailed comparative data for 2024 has been manualty added. Ourthanks to DeTek Baker giving his time as Independent Examiner of these accounts. Flnanclal rfsks In 2021 we borrowed £500,000 for a ten-year period on a variable Interest rate to buy a manse for our Minister and hi5 family. The interest rate changes in line with the UK bank rate. We are satisfied that in 2025 we remained on track both to repay capital (planned to reduce to zero afterten Years) and interest on the remainlng sum. We have allowed £105,OtIo to meet our commltment in 2026. The manse was purchased in 2021 for £1,646,500. Our reserves at the end of 2025 were £20,681 higher than at the prevlous year end* primar1 because of lower Pair and maintenance costs in the year: this redurtion 15 deceptive as renewed attention to maintenance work is scheduled for 2026. New gas and electricity contracts Inevltably mean hlgher charges, added io virtually all oiher costs and charges creepin8 upwards. Nevertheless our accounts show that we are reasonably confident of financlal viability for the coming year. Our reseNe5 wlicy aims to ensure we have unrestricted funding in hand for approxlmatety Six month5, operational costs {estimated in 2026 at some É63,5c(Il and to maintain prudent provision for cyclical maintenance of our church and school buildings and our manse as well as for extraordlnary repalrs. Our buildings are held In trust by the London Baptist Property Board. The church bulldSn8 is insured for £9.154,991 and the adjacent building for £1.648,51.

Our spirited Sunday mornin8 servlces remalned the focal point of our collective worshlp, gatherlng our diverse communty together In fellowshlp and pralse. Under the leadership of our Minister, Ewan King, our worship services were enriched by the talents of young people, vlsrling musitlans, the Heath Street Cholr, and a great many Buest readers. For many years, our building has hosted both a Brazlllan congregatlon and a Korean ttsngregatlon. This year, each moved Into a more permanent home- the Brazilian congregation to its own buildin8 on Holloway Road, and the Korean congregation to o small local church In Hendon. We received heartfelt letters of thank5 from both congreEation5- e ore verygrotefulforall the supportyou gnd the church haveprovided us. Pastor Mln Ho Sofig An exciting new ministry grew out of ourconnection with ourAnglican nelghbours at Emmanuel Church. West Hampstead. Together with Revd Dr Catrlona Lain& we continued our monthly evening Taizé sèryices, alternatlng betweèn ourtwo chLtrch buildings. Revd Laing leads the worshlp, and ourown Ewan King directs the music. Togetherwith them, we also made a pilgrimage toTaizé overthe summer, joinin8 a coachload of pllgrims from Llncoln, Includlng the Rt Revd Dr NSchola5 Chamberlain. Bishop of Graniham. The hlBhllght of Easter 2025 was the Palm Sunday Processlon, OanIsed jointly with Emmanuel and followed by a seryice there. Representatives from Heath Street and Emmanuel, joined by musicians dlrerted by Ewan, the Emmanuel cholr, and a vlsltlng Maasai dance troupe on a fundralsing lour, 8athered in West Hampslead Cemetery and processed to Emmanuel Church with singin8 and music for a joint Palm Sunday Eucharist. The musician5 continued to play durin8 the SeIce, and afterwards the Maasal perfom)ers gave a dance dlsplay with enthusiastic audience partlclpatlon. Heath Street Choir gave sever81 wonderful cOnrtS. A particular highlight was the St Cecilia'5 Day celebration, whlch featured John Blov/s 1684 ode for St Cecilia. Begin the Song1 a work rarely performed. The event also ir)cluded poetry readings and a programme of madrigals and part 50ng5. This year also saw the first phase of renovation work on the organ, as well as a CItal by Katia Farn of For Somuel Beckett by composer Matthew Lee Knowles. At 24 hours, it is the lonBe5t fully notated tomposltlon ever wrltten forthe organ. and It was a prlvilege to host such a rare performance. Baroquestock marked its 10th anntversary with an expanded festival, No Man is on tslond, and a series of outstanding programmes. The diaconate launched a "plan for 5UStainable member5hip°, recognlslng that Old Time Nursery, Heath Street Choir, and Storymakers were the ministries m05t con5i5tently bringing new people into the Sunday congregation or supporting them in their walk with Jesus. The Advent season saw us collaboratln8 wlth St Mary's Primr05e Hill on producing a Nativity. It wa5 hosted by them. but actually stsrted on the pinnacle of Primrose Hill itself, with not onty a live donkey
