Trustees Report This is the thlrd Annual Report of the Friend5 of St Peterfs, Afvescot IFoSPsl. As the trustees reflected on FOSPS attivity over the past academic year in preparation for the AGM, we did so mindful of the ever-present context of the contlnuing Covid-19 pandemic, which ha5 had such a dramatic impact on the Itves of all of us within the school community and beyond. When we began the academic year back in September 2020 we had hoped that FOSPS events would soon return to in-person fundraisers rather than virtual events- not one of us expected that we would still be managing such significant restrictions on the way in which we could come together a5 the academic year closed. The impact of the considerable limitstions on the way in which we could all Share in and celebrate school life, pupils. achievements and raise imwrtant funds to support St Peterfs was perhap5 most keenly felt towards end of the summertem, when we were unable to conduct our usual summer events. This was particularly disappointing given that this summer marked St Peterf5 first year as a full primary and also saw our first Year 6 leavers move on to secondary education. We were $0 pleased, however. to be able to cognise and celebrate this Important milestone in both the school'5 history and their educational journey by or8anising the leaver5' disco, which was a great success and hopefully will become a permanent fixture In the FOSPS calendar of event5. We have still, however, achieved a great deal together in difficult circumstances. In the year endln8 31st August 2021. FOSPS and its supporters mana8ed to raise £44SO, a figure comparable to that whlch we would hope to raise in more normal times and testament to the Bat support we have received from all those involved In the school. Achievements and p•rformanc8 Fundralslng Hlghllghts The restrictions placed on all our lives have. of course, had a consideroble impact upon our ability to run the comprehensive programme of fundraisin8 activities on behalf of the school that we would have hoped to over the academic year, but that should not detract from some noteworthy achievements in the past 12 month5, which would not have been possible without the sUPPOrt of the entire school community. Dvring the school year 2020121, FOSPS has generated over £6,200 in income. which has been used to pay for a variety of resources, books and equipment, an impressive figu when one considers our posrtion as a small rural school. Despite the lack of a bazaar, Christmas fundraisin8 raised over £l.tXK) and we have also benefited from a £510 8rant generously provided by Bampton Village Community Shop. Additionally, over £8CM) wa5 generated by the Lotto, Ice cream Fridays raised over £670, more than £270 was generated from the Harvest Trail and Silver Smartles raised just over £210. This year we have been able to fund a KS2 laptop charging station and storage cabinet, costin8 over £1,600. Over £4(K) has been spent on a cla55 Set of reading books and a set of RE books. We have also committed to funding over £l,(KQ worth of software subscriptions for packages such as Times Table Aockstars,, 'WhiteRose Maths,, 'Parentmail' and more.
Against the continuing backdrop of the global pandemic as a board of trustees we intend to remain Innovatlve In the way we fundraise over the month5 ahead. We k)ok forward to the next academic year and will identify opportunities to come together. virtualty if necessary, as a school community to continue to support our school. Objectlves and Supportlng Activitie8 FoSPs' primary objective is to help 'advance the education of the pupils at St. Pete¢s Primary School, Alvescot,. Our organisation. which was created in 2018, is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and it comprises of both members and trustees. To be able to fulfil our objective we work hard to: Develop effective relationships between staff. parents and others associated with the school Engage in activities, or providelassist in the provision and funding of facilities and eqljipment (that is not provided by ODST or the LEAI- At the beginning of each academic year, FOSPS discusses with the Head Teacher and the wider school team the specific objertives for the comlng school year and the funding that 15 required to fulfil these objectlves. These proposals are then discussed and agreed in principle by the trustees. Numerous fundraSslng events are held throughout the school year in pursuit of the a8reed fundraising objectives. Recurrent projects and actNities included 'Fruity Fridays,, the HaNest Show and Trail, the 50150 Lotto, the Christmas Ba2aar, Silver Smarties. the traditional Easter Egg Hunt, whlch is a flrm favourite wlth the chlldren. 'Ice Cream Frldays, In summer, many cake sales, the Summer BBQ Film Club and rn0. Constltutional Matt•r8 M•mbar8hlp Membership is optional and is open to.. All parents and careers of pupils enrolled at St. Peterfs School. Afvescot. who will be asked to indicate on School induction documentation their agreement to become a member and to accept the duty of members as per the Constitution Teachin& support staff and governor5 of St. Peterfs School, Alvescot Any other person who expre5ses an interest in supporting the objectives of the Friends of St. Peterfs. Aivexot. Members are encoura8ed to attend meetings wherever possible, and are able to vote on decisions. Members are also encoura8ed to actNety participate in fundraising and generally sUPPOrt the FoSPs' cause.
The Board of Trusto88 Our Board must consist of between three Iminimuml and fve trustees. Trustee5 are elected on an annual basis at the AGM; retirin8 members shall be eligible for r&election without further nomination. We make our decisions in line with our FoSPs' Constitution. at meetings of the charity trustees. bv resolution in wrlting or by electronic form, usin8 a majority vote. The opportunity to become a trustee is advertised prior to the AGM, through use of the school noticeboard and in the school and/or FoSPs' newsletter. To enable prospective trustees in maklng informed decisions about the commitment required and the election process, the FOSP Constitution is available to any interested parties. Trustee role descriptions for the 3-5 roles are also available and current trustees make themselves adIlY available to answer any questions those considering an application may have. Treasurers Report On the following page you will find our Attounts. which have been prepared on a Receipts and Payments basis. In total over £6,260 of Income has been recelved in 2020121. After dedurting all of the event costs land a small sum for charity insurance), we have been in a position to issue funding of £2,899 to school wlthln the year, wlth additional fundin8 to be issued next year. At the end of the year, our cash balance is £4,665. This is made up of funding yet to be issued to school. our £5(KJ minimum bank balance (per the constitution) and £653 of grant fundin8 yet to be spent.
