Membershlp The Lions Club's membershlp at the be8innin8 of the year was 35 with 21 men and 14 women. At the end of the year the membership wa5 31 with 18 men and 13 women. In undertaking its work, the Charity relies on the member5 of the Shakespeare Lions Club ICIOI. AII members are volunteers,. their time is given freely and without charge and without this support the charity would not be able to function. Trustees meet as required to discuss strategic or important issues. Detailed affairs relatin8 to fund raising and decisions on Community Setvice proposals and donations a￿ conSide￿d at regular monthly committee meetings. Club members paid an annual subscription of £50 These subscriptions together with fundraising social events for members. fund the memberf dues which are paid to support Lions District, Lions Multiple District and Lions Club International administration and for the administration of the Club. These monies. relating to the administration of the club. are accounted for enti￿1¥ separately from the charitable and charity fund-raisin8 monies. Trust Composltlon In accordance with the Trust Deed. the Charity is Current￿ managed by 10 trustees of whom, the Club President, Secretary and Treasurer are ex-officio plus 7 elected trustees. Trustees are elected each year to serve for a three-year period. but may be ￿elected to serve. The Trustees are elected al the same time a5 the Lions Club Officers and Dirertors by the member5 of the Lions Club in March each year and take office on l July following. Trustees are made aware of their roles and responsibilities and are provided with coples of the Charlty Commlssion guidance CC3 "The Essential Trustee" Trustees are also encouraged to attend the Lions Distrirt 105CW Forum where 8uidance Is glven on the role of Trustees. The Club's charltable work and donations are administered through the Trust. Donations and grants are Considered in accordance with the Lions Club l Trust's Grant Makin8 Pollcy. All financial expenditures and donations are individually approved by a majority of the members present at the monthly business meetin& subject to there being a quorum of four trustees in attendance. These collections arranged under licence from Strafftird on Avon District Council raised a net Income of £2489 Easter Eggs placed with schools and pubs by both Shakespeare LKJns and Alcester Lions raised a net income of shakespea￿ £850 and Akester £310 Miscellaneous fund raisers Shakepeare Lions £275: Alcester £1994 The above amounts are after deduction of valld expenses. the sald funds only belng donated to service activities or to worthy causes on the recommendation of the Club's Community Services Committee and the Lions Club members. Training is undertaken by Lion rnembers. Slnce 2016 we have trained 1986 Students and 288 Adults Rewlln8 - each month we recycle about 1,51K) pairs of spectacles for use in developlng countrles via Lions Intemational. Youth - we are invofved in various Lions youth initiatives. However, the Charitable Trust looks to maintain a minimum balance in its account of £1,0￿ to pre-pay for fundraising initiatives and to cover any urgent needs or requests for financial grantsldonation5. Risk Policv Not havin8 property inte￿$t$ or employees. the Charws exposure to rlsk is relatively low. The Trustees are covered to the level of £5 mill￿n by the Trustee5' indemnity element of the Lions Multiple Distrirt Insurance policy. Due diligence in checkin8 the insurance details of any organisation employed at events is essentlal. The main perceived risk is insolvency. This is addressed by the trustees ensuring that grants I donation5 do not exceed the available funds held by the Charitable Trust Fund at any 8Nen time. The Risk Policy of the Trust is subject to annual review. Revlew of FSnanclal Actlvltles and Affalrs The financial accounts of the Shakespeare Lions Club {CIOI for the year ended 30th June 2025 are attached to this report. These have been independently examined and approved. CIO Reglstratlon It should be noted that in December 2017 Shakespeare Lions Club applied to the Charity Commission to register as a Charitable Incorporated Organi￿tIOn ICIOI. On 310 April 2018 the Charity Commission approved the registration of Shakespeare Lions Club ICIOI and entered it onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1177788. The CIO has sought and obtained Section 105 Order from the Charity Commission to transfer the assets and liabillties of Shakespeare Llons Club la non-￿gistered Lion5 Clubl to the CIO. The formation of the CIO involving the adoption of the CIO Constitution, Lions Club By-laws and Grant Maklng Pollcy took place on Il, October 2018. The assets of Shakespeare Lions Club were then transferred to the new CIO. It should be noted that these actbns have been taken because the Charity Commission have advised that the most appropriate entity for a Lions Club Is a CIO.
