The CAV aim5 to give young people a place where they can thrive, and several Sport5 and Activity programmes have been successful in attracting high numbers of young people. The'community Sport. Sessions such as football attrart between 70-80 per sess1 and the Roma Gypsy Traveller sessions were so successful ihat they were granted further funding for 2023-24. The CAV building encompasses a aimbing Wall with one of only four Olympic Speed Climbing w311s in the whole of the UK. The Climbing Centre opened in Ociober 2022 and has steadily built a loyal following of local and regional tlimbers who have yven excellent feedback regarding the standard of the wall antl the knowledgeable staff team. The CAV Nursery opened in August 2022 and has increased its enrolrnent month on month. The Functional Fitne55 area opened in October 2022 and provides an Olympic level weightlifting facility along with croFIt style classes. A further sporting facility capital project was undertaken during the year a5 well in the form of a multidiscipline Cycling Facility. The facility encompasse5 a Learn to Ride Track, a Green Mountain Biking Trail. an Intefmediate Pump Track and an Advanced Level Pump track. This project Wa5 fvnded through Sport England's Place5 to Ride Fund Ithrough British Cycling), the Derbyshire Environmental Trust Ithrovgh Tam)acl and the YMCA Robin Hood Group. Football Stands were also added to the Stadia Pitch in March 2023 to provide seating for the local football clubs and teams. The stands were funded through YMCA Robin Group, Newark and Sherwood District Council as well as the Premier League Stadia Fund. During February 2023, there were several exoting business developments as Newark Business Club made the CAV their perrnanent home. The YMCA also talched their Membership packages to the local Commijnity and numbers have been steadily inca$ln8 as people experience all that Is on offer at the amazing CAV. The Villager. Supporter and Youth memberships all prowde bespoke programming and cce55 to the facilities at the CAV harnessing the unique mix of sport. actiwty. health and wellbeing as well as the integration of Developmental Assets in èll Programming. September 2022 also saw several partners inhabit the CAV building. Newark College, part of Lincoln College Group, moved into the Education Space delivering courses to both young people as well as adults. Inspire als0 occupied an Education Space to deliver courses and Homestart and Insight both moved into the CAV Business Space. The Business Space also became home to Robert Jenrick MP in Winter 2022. The CAV implemented Open Play for its membership svstem, and this will continue to be improved to enhance the customer experience for everyone who uses the CAV facilities. The 5VStem a5515ts staff in accommodating and organising the 4000+ people per week who make their way to the CAV. 2022-23 started with many challenges including the delay of the building completion, however the staff team at the CAV have grown in strength and conftdence to understand and overcome many obstacl.
