Charity Trustees

There are currently six Trustees of the CIO comprising three ex-officio Trustees, the President, Secretary and Treasurer of Haywards Heath Lions Club (CIO). In addition, up to four other members of Haywards Heath Lions Club (CIO) are nominated Trustees, elected by members of the club. The Charity Trustees who served during the 2020-2021 financial year are as follows:

Haywards Heath Lions Club (CIO) Constitution, adopted on 7th March 2018.

Charitable Purpose

The objects of the Club are:

To raise funds and to invite and receive contributions, provided that in raising funds the Trustees shall not undertake any permanent trading.

To apply its income for any purpose which is charitable according to the law of England and Wales whether for the benefit of any individual or group of people or any other organisation established for charitable purposes.

The Covid-19 pandemic has again severely restricted our normal activuilies to raise funds, a5though as a result of the initiative of one of our members and an unexpected donation we have been able lo respond positively lo most financial requests we have received. Once again this year we have had to cancel our Swimarathon which is our biggest fvnd raising event but we are planning to resurrect il in 2022. In addition to our fund raising events we are usually actively involved in community seN1￿ projects bul again these have had to be curtailed Those that we have been able lo support include.. Overnight hospital packs supplied to emergency wards al the local hospita Message in a Bottle, distributed locally to Women's Inslitules, Age UK, Doctors surgeries elc Some of the larger donations we have been able to make aTe'. A local Primary School for bereavement counselling Distribution of Sainsbury's vouchers to needy children al christmas The local food bank R18k Polic Not having property interests or employees, the Trust's exposure to risk is relatively low. The Trustees are covered lo the level of £10 million by the Trustees, indemnity element of the Lions Multiple District Insurance policy. Due diligence in checking the insuTance details of any organisalion employed al events is essential and fom)s part of our rssk assessment process. Othef than Public Liability, which is addressed by oui insurance policy, the primary perceived risk $ insolvency. This 15 addressed by by the Trustees ensuring that the grants and donations do not exceed the available funds held by the Tiusl. The iisk policy of the Trust is is subject lo annual review.
