Purposes and Aims:

Our charity’s purpose is to:

The aims of our charity are to reach as many cancer patients as possible in the UK, to make their lives more comfortable.

We send out by post or hand over in person beautiful “Treatment Bags” which are linen bags filled with luxury relevant treats aimed to help mitigate the side effects of treatment for cancer.

Structure:

The charity is managed day to day by three volunteers from an office in Somerset, UK.

Bags can be ordered through the company website

www.treatmentbag.co.uk

The trustees spend their time giving out and posting bags.

The trustees approach companies to see if they would like to donate relevant goods for the bags – either for free or at a fair price.

During the year, there were five main wrap days, where thirteen unpaid volunteers met to wrap the contents of the bags.

The trustees have regular meetings to discuss the management of the charity.

Management:

The day to day running of the charity involves receiving donations, posting out bags, giving bags by hand.

Until it closed in 2021, we gave 4 bags a month to Ellie’s Friends , a cancer charity and we continue to give 2 bags a month to Something to Look

Forward to , another charity. We also send a free Man Bag to each new ‘member’ of The Cancer Club , a charity set up specifically for men with cancer. This can be up to 10 bags per month, but is generally more like 2 or 3.

Bags are also offered once monthly free through social media (Instagram and Facebook).

Fund raising:

Funds have been raised by:

Expenditure:

Expenses are postage, packaging, goods for the bags as well as printed materials, cost of the running of the website and commission fees to Paypal.

Achievements:

During the third year of trading the charity was able to send out and give away 267 bags – 160 Original Bags, 75 Man Bags and 32 Mini Bags.

Objectives:

Our objectives remain the same - to reach many more cancer patients in the coming months, to give away more bags to the NHS for free and to raise our profile so more people get to hear about Treatment Bag .
