During this tax period, the CIO has engaged with Kirklees Council’s Third Sector team for guidance on effectively allocating funding to deserving independent groups. Following their advice, we met with the One Community Foundation to explore potential partnership opportunities.
One Community presented two funding options. The first is the Flow-Through Fund, which provides immediate access to funding for individual groups. The second is the Endowment Fund, where One Community matches our investment, using the interest generated to create sustainable funding pots for future applicants. One Community also undertakes all necessary due diligence, including identifying, assessing, and processing funding applications.
At this stage, we have decided to allocate £10,000 to the Flow-Through Fund, ensuring immediate support for the wider community. We will explore the Endowment Fund option in the next financial year.
As part of the Flow-Through Fund agreement, we have secured the ability for one or more board members to participate in funding panels, ensuring we have a voice in decision-making. This helps us align funding distribution with our charity’s objectives and the needs of the local community.
As a charity, we remain committed to ensuring that all allocated funds are used effectively to benefit as many people within Kirklees as possible.
