The Association is one of a number of similar Associations within the framework of the Yorkshire Beekeepers Association, which in turn represents the county of Yorkshire within the British Beekeeping Association. New Trustees are provided with a copy of the CIO Constitution. Unsurprisingly, all Trustees are active beekeepers themselves. No major risks are identified. The Management Committee consists of up to 12 Trustees who are appointed at the AGM in November. They then elect a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer from amongst themselves for the year. Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
It ran the 2022 practical Beginners courses, and also the 2022 equipment Auction Members often engage in presentations to public groups - for example school, gardening clubs, Girl Guides, Rotary. The public also contact us for advice through our website on honey bees and indeed flying insect matters of all types - especially bumble bees and wasps.
Some of the Association members provide a free swarm collection service to the general public in our area. Recent budget cuts in organisations such as York City Council, Police, local businesses and the like mean that when they are contacted by the public with a bee problem, the callers are directed to YDBKA for assistance.
