Achievements and perfortDance The period 2024 Lo 2025 has been another fulfilling year for DBW Charity. Our donations have inclu(kd-. £5,000 to The Chordoma Foundation to ensure that we continue to SUprt the ground-breaking work they are a¢hieving in the development of new treaimenLs for paediatrie ehordoma £500 LO a family in North Wales whose bon w2s diagnosed wilh chor(bma and is being treatrd at BCH. £IIK) worth of vouchLYS io ihe child directly £51K) Lo a family irt the Midlands whose son was din0$&I with chordoma and is being tyeated at BCH. £l(M) worth of vouehers to the child directly £5.000 to RMH Bimiingham where the ¢harily has sponsored a family rrn for the year allowing families of children in treattnent free accommodation durit)g their time at Birniingham Children's Hospitsl. In 2024125 we awarded our first two grants to families in North Wales and the Midlands. The preS pur in place workoj successfully and allowed ihe families to apply with e&se, and for us to facilitate payments in a prampr manner. Both families receiv a payment of £51K), a copy of Drew, and Bunny. Too and a £100 voucher. For 2025 we rnAde the decision to supEx)rt Ronald McDon4]d House BimJin8ham, a f&ciliry which provides a¢commodation for farnilies with childrcn in treatment at Bimiingham Children's Hospital. We w¢re forturte to have a room at the house for the duration of our stay at BCH and fully understsnd the support this offers to those in need. As a charity, we have sponsorcd a family r(K)m in our name for the year. enabling families to have free accommodation durin8 their st&y at the bospital. 2025 Marked the charity's first le8Y donation. A substantial sum w&5 donat¢d which will allow the charity to conLinue with its research funding, supp)rt of families with children in treatsnenL and to raise awareness of chordom& rare ¢hildhood cancer and the early sign5 and symptoms. Excluding donations, our focus has been on events surrounding th¢ proEnolion of Drew's Gift, a children'5 book which eam5 royalties ftr the ¢hariry and Drew's Garden. a local space which rais¢$ awareness of chordoma and rare childhood ¢an¢er. The book itself been very well received dnd we have been lortunale to have been included in many literary events over the past 12 moDths, including Abergayenny Writer's festival, Th¢ Children's BkshO, Llandeilo Lil Fe5t and in particular, Hay Festival. All events have seen famities engage in activities relad the themes of the Ix)ok and those preseni have been inforn)ed of the genesis ol the story and the charity behind the projttl. This has helped rdise aWaneSS of chordnma and rare childhwd cancer in general. Walker Books haye also an)llneed that ihey will release a paperback version on the Ix)ok in late 2025 which will allow the Charily to organise more awareness everlts and fur]draisers. Locally, we have continued with annual fundraising events including Ihc Santa Run - Hay-on-wye. and our NYE Fun Run - Tal8arth. The NYF. Fun Run a %ell out event and wonderful evcning was had by all those w) attendeiL We also raised funds and awaren&ss through the evenL Moving forward for 2025 our chlty is placing strong focus ort using Drew's Garden as a platfotTh to raise awareness engage the communiiy.
