106 AGM
Wednesday November 17[th] 2021, Shap Memorial Hall. 7pm
Attendees: John Owen, Chris Battersby, James Levens, Alan Sowerby, Alison Morris (Cumbria Classic Coaches), Ian Howard (Cumbria Classic Coaches), Neil Hughes, Neil McCall, Jonathan Davies.

Introduction and welcome – John Owen welcomed people to the meeting.

Minutes of the last meeting – John Owen approved the minutes of the last meeting.

Chairman’s Report – John Owen read out the chairman’s report to the meeting. John said he received help from Libby Bateman.
John Owen said it was eight years since the partnership was re-instated, going from strength to strength. The pandemic, the change of operator and funding issues had affected the partnership, but it was going from

strength to strength. The Friends of the 106 Partnership were keen to keep the partnership going.
John Owen mentioned a vlog produced by Libby Bateman, promoting a trip round the Lake District using the 106, X5 and 555 bus services.
John Owen said James Levens had produced a list of bus journeys and times starting from and returning to Penrith bus station. John asked James to update the list, showing winter times as soon as possible. John said he was grateful for James doing this.
John Owen said the Shap Christmas market was taking place on December 18[th] . Items will be gratefully received.
Chris Battersby mentioned Smile Amazon, a way of choosing a charity. A drop-down box produced a list of charities, including the 106 Bus Partnership. 0.5% of everything purchased is donated to the partnership.

John Owen expressed his thanks to the parish councils, Cumbria Community Fund, and the emergency support fund for supporting the partnership. Alison Morris thanked everyone for working with communities and passengers to make everything worthwhile.
- Treasurer’s report – Chris Battersby had sent a balance sheet to the attendees via email. £4,000 had been received from parish council; £725 had been received from the Friends of the 106. External grants totalling £4,500 (£2500 from the Holehird Trust and £2,000 from the Pappagallino Trust) had been received. Chris Battersby said he received a cheque for £150.
Chris said the credit was £3,984.75 to pay for the service, although this won’t be paid for a few months.
A member of the audience was told the partnership was paying the final two payments to Stagecoach.

Chris Battersby said the running costs were issued each year. The services in 2018 and 2019 were running on three days a week. The services in 2020 and 2021 were running on two days a week. But a lower cost was being shown.

Any other business
Alan Sowerby said someone is going to do a bingo, taking place at Orton. Alan will let people know when it will go ahead.
Chris Battersby told Neil McCall that passenger numbers are steady.
Neil Hughes said Cumbria County Council must draw up a Bus Service Improvement Plan, giving support to the 106 service and extending the 563 service from Appleby-inWestmorland to Kirkby Stephen. The meeting was urged to contact Mark Hodgkiss regarding these items.

The meeting was told the idea of extending the servide would be looked at next year.
John Owen thanked everyone for their hard work.
