aged 3-7.We work with MoBSE (Ministry of Basic4Secondary
durinfj the year Education) and the local school committees.
Our projects are
Implemented
by an organisation
called the 'Gambian
Management
Team' (GMT), who are capable and experienced
locals. GSShas
continued to help build the capabilities
and capacity ofthe GMTto
enable ittobecome an established
service provider.
During the past year we have set up a bespoke 'Teacher &Training
Development
Program'.
This comprises an intensive course of
workshops
which all the teachers attend. We have also set up a team of
4coach/inspectors
who visit each school monthly to provide 'on the
job' coaching In the dassroom
and complete an inspecdon
which scores
each school on 10attributes.
GSS's plan istogrow the project as tluickly asthe constraints
allow. The
main constraints
are raising sufFicient funds and the capacity ofthe
GMT.
GSSreserves policy isto hold 12months running costs, currently
E90,000.
