Welcome to the 2023-2024 Annual Report for FOLIO Sutton Coldfield.

During this year Birmingham City Council have consulted with residents regarding the future of libraries. As a result of the requirement for them to save money libraries have become a focus for cuts. Therefore this year FOLIO Sutton Coldfield has focused on leading the local community in campaigns to Save Our Libraries. We have run a number of events to raise the profile of libraries and gain local support to canvas city and town councillors to ensure that libraries in Sutton Coldfield will remain open and offer a much needed service to the community.

We continue with our regular activities including monthly meetings of the Elderberries group for the over 50s and weekly IT surgeries.

We continue to support Ukrainian refugees through our links with Sutton Coldfield library we have been able to work with North Birmingham 4 Ukraine to set up weekly ESOL classes, conversation classes and weekly employment advice sessions. These activities are well attended and offer much needed support.

We have also been able to offer additional support to children’s activities and craft sessions in the library specifically in relation to celebrating 50 years of Sutton Coldfield library.

We have been involved in supporting the daily Warm Welcome sessions by providing refreshments and successfully applying for equipment to facilitate this activity.

We continue to hold bimonthly trustee meetings in order to oversee the running of the charity.

We are extremely grateful to the trustees and volunteers who gave their time so willingly to make these events and activities so enjoyable
