process involving DBS checks and training.
These volunteers help in sessions under the
direction of the charity's employees.

informal These volunteers participate in
meetings to support fund raising, organise

become involved. A core group of 7 have
organised successful community events

Achievements and Performance

SORP
reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference
the charity’s work has made
to the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The Place continued to support families throughout
the Covid19 pandemic.
We provided the following online groups:Baby group
The weekly attendance was approx. 6/7 families with
over 35 families signed up to receive the links each
week.Storytime and singing group. The two groups
had an average attendance of approx. 6/7 families
with over 31 families signed up to receive links each
week.New Parent New Baby group Two groups
were running back to back in Jan/Feb, (total of 12
families attending)Baby massage groupTwo
groups were running back to back in Jan/Feb. (A total
of 12 families attending;First Aid Fifteen parents
attended - we provide financial support for families
who can't afford the fee.
Ongoing support for families was provided through
texts and phone calls, with regular updates and ideas
posted on our website and Facebook page.
Craft packs provided at Christmas and Easter, either
collected by families or delivered to their homes were
a useful way of maintaining contact.
Two of our volunteers, both former teachers, provided
weekly activities and advice to support families via
email with transition to school as this was a concern
for some parents.
When restrictions eased, the project re-opened in its
new premises. The move has enabled us to offer
more groups and an extra staff member was
employed to facilitate this, funded by a three year
grant from Faringdon United Charities. We developed
a new structure for groups replacing the former drop
in method. Families are now booked in for alternating
six week blocks, with alternative activities such as
Cycle Park visits offered in the breaks between their
blocks. Initially this was to control numbers and keep
families safe from covid, but it has turned out to be
veryeffective. Staffget to know the families better

and can provide more personalised support and the families develop friendships, forming their own support networks through Whatsapp groups for example. We therefore plan to continue to operate in this way. 142 families attended groups since April-December 2021. We continue to offer a Clothes Library offering maternity and children's clothes and have restarted our monthly film showing. .

Achievements against
objectives set
Para 1.41 The Place has adapted the way it works with
families in the light of the pandemic, providing
a more personalised working relationship.
Feedback through questionnaires and emails
has shown that families continue to value the
project.
Feedback is collected quarterly – with over 41
responses received for Sept-Dec ember.
Some examples of the feedback
