An example of this is our monthly subsldlsed workshop in collaboration with Borderlands Charity Bfislol, providing refugee and asylum seekers with a safe place to be creative and explore prlnlmaking. The truslees confirm Ihat they have had regard to the Charlty Commission's public beneflt guidance when plannlng the charity's activities. SPS provides affordable. hlgh-quality prinlmaklng facilities, education, and exhibition opportunilies that benefit the public and support artistic development and wellbeing. AGHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE Over the reporting period, the organisation successfully delivered a wide range of acllvilies that supported skllls developrnent, prolessional progression, and public engagemenl within colltemporary printmakinu. We provlded ongoing tralnlng and CPD opportunities for young printmak8rs and recent graduates, enabling participants to Strenglhen techniGal skllls, build confldence, and enhance Ihelr Cvs lor fulure employment and creative role5. Technician roles were offered where possible, giving emerging practitioners hands-on experience in a professional studio environment and supported progression Into paid creative work. The Bursary Award lor Innovation in Rellef Prlntlng was dellvered to advance experlmentation in relief prinlmaking while upholding the ethos ol founder Peler Reddick. The award supported Innovative practlce and culminated in a Work-in-Progress exhibition, offering visibility lo the recipient's developing work and encouraglng peer learnlng. A year-round proaramfne of exhlbitions and events showcased members, work and celebraled the achievements ol our year-long courses. These actlvilies increased public visibility for artists, strengthened professional networks, and demonstrated the breadth and quallty ol practice within the studlo. We contlnued lo oller inlernships and work experlence placemenls lor young creatlves, working in partnership with UWE and other Bristol college5. These opportunltles supported early career development and strenglhened links between education and professlonal practice. Our commitmenl to accessiblllty and communlty engaDemenl was reflecled In a monthly subsidi5ed workshop programme delivered in collaboration with Borderlands Charlty Brlstol, widening participation and supporting individuals who may otherwise face barriers to creallve engagement. The trustees consider this to be a sali$faGtory outcome that Strengthens the charlly's financlal stabillty. The Iruslees aim thls year has been to return our unreslrlcted reserves lo a level reflecting approximately three months of core expenditure. However, we plan to increase this to six month8 of core expendllure In the next linanclal year. This will ensure ureater financial slabilily lor the studlo as well as allow lor relocatlon should this ever become necessary. RISK MANAGEMENT Principal risks idenlilied include fluctuatlons In Income. contlnued Increases in rent, maintenance of studio equipmenl, and stafl capaclty. These are mitigated by prudent linancial management, diverse income slreams, and appropriate policies. PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS The charity plans lo expand its educatlonal off er, Invest In sustalnablllty Inltialives, increase membership, upgrade studlo equipment, and strenglhen partnerships with olher arts organisalions including Spike Island Art Space. In particular. the development of an annual print lair and edilionlng lor artist5. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT SPS is a charltable company lirnited by guar¢intee, incorporated 01121 February1976 and registered as a chariiy in 2017. The appointment of truslees is governed by the Memorandum and Arllcles ol Assoclatlon of the company. The Board is authorised to appolnl new trustees by resolutlon to1111 vacancies arising. New trustees recelve an Informatlon pack and are invited lo meet with the Chair and Studio Managers, visil the studio and attend a Board meeting before committlng to becoming a tm51ee. Sludlo members dre invited to apply and torm 80% 01 truslee5, With a maximum ot 20% being external members. The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accountlng records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any lime the financlal position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the tinancial statements comply with the Companies Acl 2006. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence taking reasonable sleps lor the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
