SPS provides training, employmenl and Continued Professlonal Development ICPDI for young prlnlmakers
and graduates to build skllls. conllLlence and boost thelf Cvs for luture roles. SPS olfers inteinshlps and work
experience for yollng crealives, worklng with UWE and other Brislol colleges.
Adrtitlollally, SPS provides Gommunity workshops. An example of this is our monthly subsldlsed workshop in
collaboration with Borderlands Charity Bfislol, providing refugee and asylum seekers with a safe place to be
creative and explore prlnlmaking.
The truslees confirm Ihat they have had regard to the Charlty Commission's public beneflt guidance when
plannlng the charity's activities. SPS provides affordable. hlgh-quality prinlmaklng facilities, education, and
exhibition opportunilies that benefit the public and support artistic development and wellbeing.
AGHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Over the reporting period, the organisation successfully delivered a wide range of acllvilies that supported
skllls developrnent, prolessional progression, and public engagemenl within colltemporary printmakinu.
We provlded ongoing tralnlng and CPD opportunities for young printmak8rs and recent graduates, enabling
participants to Strenglhen techniGal skllls, build confldence, and enhance Ihelr Cvs lor fulure employment
and creative role5. Technician roles were offered where possible, giving emerging practitioners hands-on
experience in a professional studio environment and supported progression Into paid creative work.
The Bursary Award lor Innovation in Rellef Prlntlng was dellvered to advance experlmentation in relief
prinlmaking while upholding the ethos ol founder Peler Reddick. The award supported Innovative practlce
and culminated in a Work-in-Progress exhibition, offering visibility lo the recipient's developing work and
encouraglng peer learnlng.
A year-round proaramfne of exhlbitions and events showcased members, work and celebraled the
achievements ol our year-long courses. These actlvilies increased public visibility for artists, strengthened
professional networks, and demonstrated the breadth and quallty ol practice within the studlo.
We contlnued lo oller inlernships and work experlence placemenls lor young creatlves, working in
partnership with UWE and other Bristol college5. These opportunltles supported early career development
and strenglhened links between education and professlonal practice.
Our commitmenl to accessiblllty and communlty engaDemenl was reflecled In a monthly subsidi5ed
workshop programme delivered in collaboration with Borderlands Charlty Brlstol, widening participation and
supporting individuals who may otherwise face barriers to creallve engagement.
The annual May Open Studio welcomed the publlc Into the space, olferino insight inlo studlo activity through
dBmonstrations, workshops, and informal engagemenl with artis1$. Thls event strenothened audience
relationships, increased awarene5S Ot prinlmaking, and reinforced the studio's role as an open, Incluslve
cultural resource.
The Lark Trust Grant funded our Bursary Award for Innovallon In Relief Printlng for the 11 th year and
provlded the awardee with an exhibltion showing thelr work In Bristol.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
During the year, the Studlo strengthened its membership and educational offer. Membershlp Income
Increased year on year by 42% to £64,55512024'. £45,550), and learning programme incoFne by 4% to
£125,46112024.' £120,758). The charity also beneflted from a £4.770 orant from the Lark Trust and other
income streams from materlats, storage, and exhibitlons lolalllng £13,33712024'. £11,344).
Total Income Increased by 7% to £215,58012024. £201,001), while total expendlture tell by 7% to £175.626
12024.. £189.2861, resulling in a surplus of £38,95412024.' £11,715}.
The charity ended the year wilh total funds of £79,26312024'. £40,309), Including an Increase of unrestrlcted
reserves of £68,43412024'. £27,623) and designated reserves of £10,82912024- £12,686). The trustees
consider this to be a sali$faGtory outcome that Strengthens the charlly's financlal stabillty.
The Iruslees aim thls year has been to return our unreslrlcted reserves lo a level reflecting approximately
three months of core expenditure. However, we plan to increase this to six month8 of core expendllure In
the next linanclal year. This will ensure ureater financial slabilily lor the studlo as well as allow lor relocatlon
should this ever become necessary.
RISK MANAGEMENT
Principal risks idenlilied include fluctuatlons In Income. contlnued Increases in rent, maintenance of studio
equipmenl, and stafl capaclty. These are mitigated by prudent linancial management, diverse income
slreams, and appropriate policies.
PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS
The charity plans lo expand its educatlonal off er, Invest In sustalnablllty Inltialives, increase membership,
upgrade studlo equipment, and strenglhen partnerships with olher arts organisalions including Spike Island
Art Space. In particular. the development of an annual print lair and edilionlng lor artist5.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
SPS is a charltable company lirnited by guar¢intee, incorporated 01121 February1976 and registered as a
chariiy in 2017. The appointment of truslees is governed by the Memorandum and Arllcles ol Assoclatlon of
the company. The Board is authorised to appolnl new trustees by resolutlon to1111 vacancies arising. New
trustees recelve an Informatlon pack and are invited lo meet with the Chair and Studio Managers, visil the
studio and attend a Board meeting before committlng to becoming a tm51ee. Sludlo members dre invited to
apply and torm 80% 01 truslee5, With a maximum ot 20% being external members.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accountlng records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at
any lime the financlal position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the tinancial statements
comply with the Companies Acl 2006. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the
charity and hence taking reasonable sleps lor the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
The Trustees conslder Ihat Ihere are no materlal uncertalntles about the charity's ablllly to contlnue as a
going concern. There are no materlal uncertainties aff ecting the current year's accounts.
The above report has been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to companles subject to
the small companies regime as set out in Part15 of the Companie5 Acl 2006 and in accordance with the

Basis ol preparation
The linanclal statements have been prepared in accordance wilh Accounting and Reportlna by Charlties..
Slalement ol Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance wlth
the Flnanclal Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republlc of IrelaTrd IFRS 1021 lemective 1
January 20191 Icharilies SORP IFRS10211, the Flnancial Reportlng Standard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland IFRS1021 and the Companles Act 2006.
Change in basis of accounting or to previous accounts
There ha5 been no change to Ihe accountlng policies Ivaluation njles and method of accountlngl since
last yeai and no changes have been made to accounts for previous years.
Going Concern
The accounts have been prepared on the assumptlon thal the charity is able lo continue as a going
concern, which the trustees consider appropriale having regard to the current level of unrestriGted
reserves.
There are no materlal uncertalntles about the charlty's ability to continue as a going concern. The
truslees Eonslder that the charlty will continue as a going concern lor a period of al least 12 months from
the date on which these financial statements are approved.

Trade alld other debtors are recognised at the settlement amount due aller any trade discount ollered.
Prepayments are valued at the an70unt prepaid net of any trade discounts due.
Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalellls comprise cash at bank and on hand, demand deposits with banks and other
short-term highly liquid Investments wlth orlglnal maturltles ol three months or less and bank overdrafts.
In the statement of financial posltlon. bank overdrafts are shown wlthln borfowlngs or current Ilabllllles.
In the Statemenl of Cash Flows, cash and cash eqijivalents are shown net ol bank overdrafts thal are
repayable on demand and form an integral part ol the company's Cash management.

Trade and other creditors
Short term creditors are measured at the transaction prlce. Other creditors and provisions are recognised
where the charity has a present obligatlon resulting from a past event that will probably result In the
transfer of funds to a third party and the amounl due to settle the obligation Ean be measured or
estimated rellably. Credltors and provisions are normally recognlsed at thelr settlemenl amount after
allowing for any trade discounts due.
Leased assets
Where the charlty enters Inlo a lease whlch enlails taking subslantlally all the risks and rewards of
ownership of an a55et, the lease is treated as a finance lease.
Leases which do nol transfer subslantlally all the risks and rewards of ownership to charlly are classifled
as operatlng lease$.
Assets held under finance leases are Initially recognised as assets of the charity at Iheir falr value at Ihe
inception of the lease or, if lower, at Ihe presenl value ol the mlnlmum lease payments. The
corresponding Ilabilily to Ihe lessor is Included In the balance sheet date as a flnance lease obllgatlon.
Lease payments are apportioned between finance expenses and reduction ol Ihe lease obligatlon so as to
achleve a constant rate of inteiesl on the remaining balance ol the liability. Flnance expenses are
recognised immediately, unless they are directly attributable to qualifying assets, in which case they are
capitalised in accordance wilh the charity's policy on borrowlng costs.
Assets held under finance leases are depreclated in the same way as owned assets.
Operating lease payments are recognised as an expense on a straight-line basls over the lease lerm.
In Ihe event that lease incentives are received to enter Into operating leases, such incentives are
recognised as a liability. The aggregate benetit of illcentives is recogni5ed as a reduction ol rental
expense on a slraight-line basis.
Pension costs
The charity operat88 a defined contrfbution plan for its employees. A defined contrlbulion plan is a
penslon plan under which the company pays lixed cofitributions into a separate entily. Once Ihe
contributions have been pald the cofftpany has no further paymenls obliuatlons. The conlrlbutions are
recognised as gxpen5es when they fall due. Amounts not pald are shown In accruals in the balance sheet.
The assels ol the plan are held separately Irom the company in independently administered fund5.
Aecounting estimates and key judgements

The estimates and undertying assumptlons are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accounting
estlmates are recognlsed in the period in which the estimate Is revised if the revlslon affects onty ihat
perlod, or In the period of the revision and future periods if the revision affects both current and future
perlods. The key sources of estimation iJncertainty that have a slgnlflcant effect on the amount5
recognised in Ihe financial statement51s depreciatlon as described under the Fixed Assets above.
