Activities
Charity currently engaged in drawing up lease with Lyn Town Council to take over the Town Hall. Chairity has recruited 7 more trustees and will be opening its membership at a public meeting in March 2019 at Lynton Town Hall (date to be confirmed). Charity aspirations and future projects to be made public on that date. Service agreement with Council awaited.
Objects: 1)to Further Or Benefit The Residents Of Lynton And Lynmouth, And The Neighbourhood And Surrounding Rural Communities, Without Distinction Of Sex, Sexual Orientation, Race Or Of Political, Religious Or Other Opinions By Associating Together The Said Residents And The Local Authorities, Voluntary And Other Organisations In A Common Effort To Advance Education And To Provide Facilities In The Interests Of Social Welfare For Recreation And Leisure Time Occupation With The Objective Of Improving The Conditions Of Life For The Residents. In Furtherance Of These Objects But Not Otherwise, The Trustees Shall Have Power: To Establish Or Secure The Establishment Of A Community Centre And To Maintain Or Manage Or Co-Operate With Any Statutory Authority In The Maintenance And Management Of Such A Centre For Activities Promoted By The Charity In Furtherance Of The Above Objects.2)to Conserve, Preserve And Improve For The Public Benefit The Grade Ii Listed Town Hall In Lynton (bequested To The Local Community By Its Victorian Benefactor George Newnes) As A Building Of Historic Interest.
