Trustees’ Annual Report for the period

From 01/04/2020 Period start date To 31/03/2021 Period end date

Charity name: Goals4Giving

Charity registration number: 1175332

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 To advance in life and help young people
through the provision of recreational and
leisure time activities designed to
improve their conditions of life.
The advancement of education, including
physical education, of young people in
particular but not exclusively by
providing them with accredited training
to become qualified football coaches
which will then allow them to gain
coaching experience on our projects and
access opportunities for obtaining work
skills particularly in sport.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
For the purpose of helping young people
through the provision of
recreational/leisure activities many of our
international football projects as well as
those based in London have achieved
this objective.
The football and multi sport projects we
have delivered to schools in Zimbabwe
and Thailand have allowed a number of
school children (aged 8-13) to take part in
structured & coached sessions that they
may previously have not had access to.
We have been able to do this by
developing partnerships with schools in
those countries & delivering sessions
that engage their pupils regardless of
ability level across different age groups.
We feel our projects help to address
some of the gaps in physical education
for children in developing countries
particularly those whose lives are
affected by poverty.
Our coaching clinics are not just focused
on teaching/developing their football
skills but also help with their learning of
fundamental movement which may not
have been taught to them by their
schools PE staff. Many of the schools &
communities we work in do not have
access to the resources that will allow
the young people they serve to learn the
A,B,C’s of movement correctly or to
develop any sporting potential they might
have.
The young people, their families and their
schools show great enthusiasm for the
opportunity of being involved in football
training with FA qualified football
coaches.
These projects are always delivered with
the ethos of social welfare by giving them
the opportunity to experience the health,
social and unifying benefits of sport.
Beyond the technical sports tuition we
are giving them, the sessions promote
the values of discipline, commitment,
teamwork, cooperation and
sportsmanship.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 All our Trustees, Staff and volunteers
have completed enhanced DBS checks,
and Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable
Adults training with a National Sports
Governing Body or other accredited
training provider within the last 3 years.
At all committee meetings the Trustees
discuss project proposals that they or the
head coach would like to see the charity
deliver in the next 3 month period. Any
suggestions for projects in the periods
between meetings are communicated by
email.
In order for a project to be approved it
must deliver outcomes that achieve at
least 1 of the objectives of the charity for
the public benefit and 2 out of 3 of the
Trustees must agree to the project being
delivered.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Unfortunately due to the COVID-19
pandemic with the subsequent
lockdowns and restrictions Imposed on
schools in the last 2+ years we have not
been able to deliver any projects either
locally or internationally .
We have looked to establish partnerships
with other community organisations but
this too has proved difficult.
All our staff and volunteers have now
been fully vaccinated against COVID-19
and as travel restrictions start to relax
globally we are now in a position to
recommence delivering international
projects. We plan to deliver a football
project with a school in Zimbabwe in
April 2022 subject to in person schooling
having resumed within the country.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 We have not received any ‘new’ income
in the last financial year and have
ensured our outgoings during this period
have been kept to a minimum (£226.19)
and primarily used for staff/volunteer
training and accreditations (e.g. renewal
of DBS checks/Safeguarding training).
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 Goals4Giving currently have reserves of
£2760.82. The majority of these funds
would have been allocated for the
expenditure on our projects we had
planned to deliver last year and this year.
We will aim to use those funds on
projects that we deliver this year in
addition to any grants we are able to
obtain this year. In most instances we will
hold relatively small amounts of funds in
reserves (up to a maximum of £5000).
