Charity Commission Report 2024- 2025
Sapgate Gardens Association has continued to operate maintaining and developing this well used community space . Regular monthly planning meetings have taken place and volunteers have met weekly.
The weather has been mixed from April 24 to March 2025. A core group continued to meet and be active. and rethink the planting.
Community events on the Gardens have continued to be popular and keep the profile of the Gardens high. These events included pumpkins display, Easter egg hunt, Teddy Bears picnic (with the library rhyme time group) Refugee picnic (with inclusive volunteering Bradford) and music events featuring two local, popular bands. Funding has come from Asda community scheme, from the Local Authority community chest and from fundraising through sales of local produce and crafts . This has meant all events are free to all.
Sapgate Gardens was also a key part of the popular Open Gardens event in Summer 2024. We were also pleased to be part of the first Thornton Village Arts Trail, displaying work made by the students from the art college.
We still use the community centre as a base for refreshments on volunteer days, and this has helped to create strong links between volunteers, and other community groups. The refreshments are free.
We are proud of what we have achieved since the group was established in 2016 and look forward to building a bigger group of volunteers and even stronger links with other local groups.
