Eoch of the Dinner5 is independent of the Foundation. overseen o steering group of volunteer5 who come logether to make a Dinner in Iheir local community. The Foundation supports these teams to moke their dreams a reolity offering guidance. advice ond support. networking opportunities and funding. The founder of Ihe Dinner5. Our inpul and support resulted in Dinner leams undertaking fundraising activity which raised a further £60.397 in cash from groups and individua15 local to their Dinner. This funding. plus the grants ond supporl that the Foundation invested was in parl used to cover Dinner cos15 such os Iransportalion. food and gifts. A5 well as fundroising campaigns. many Dinners made use of online gift lis15 to secure some of the gifts for Iheir Guests., Ihe value of the gifts donated or purchased this year is eslimated ot £48.982. It Should also be acknowledged that many of the Dinner5 received a considerable amount of support in kind. or benefited from significantly discounted land in some cases, donated) food for the main meal. While Ihese figures are impressive. the key meosure should be Ihe experience of the Guests, ond 15 perhaps bes1 summarised by a Guest at the Bury & Rochdale Dinner.. "Today was much more than just Christmas. It got me to rebuild some bridges and remember thal there ore still p05ifives in life ond not to give up when thing get hard" We should also acknowledge Ihe immense confribution in fime and energy made by the 165 people who octed as Dinner Steering Group member5, and the 6CHJ plus people who acted as Helpers and Hosts. The Foundotion has no real way fo quantify the value of this unpaid work. and perhaps we shovldn'l. bul withoul Ihem. there would be no Dinners. Not all Dinner5 receive financial support from the Foundation. os many have become self-funding local projects. driven by volunteers in communilies local to the people they serve. This is entirely in keeping with our eth05. While we don't provide funding to all the Dinners. we do provide networking. support, guidance and opportunities for Dinners lo be a part of a wider communily of care and support We continued lo work closely with Qvilts 4 Care Leaver5. sharing contact information and leads in the run up lo Christmas. Q4CL have their own Support ond supply agreements with each of the Dinners. which enobles them to manoge the logistics of dislribvlion. For a second year John Lewslwailrose worked with the Foundation through November and December to dislribule hamper food for oll Ihe Dinners. Each of the Dinners was linked wilh a Waitrose/John Lewss in their localily and Ihe goods were delivered on pollefs fo the slores. The Foundalion made on offer to support the Dinners wilh any transporl or storoge costs Ihat moy arise from this orrangemenf, bul none took up the offer. Operational When the Foundation was established in 2017 the number of Dinners was less thon a dozen, but as the initiative hos continued to coplure the imaginalion,
