Donations & Welfare

In this 12-month period our club’s major fundraising income has come from various Christmas collections and Online donations due to our usual major events being unable to run. We have also registered on PayPal Giving, and Amazon Smile to adapt to the current climate and have worked with Co-Op, Tesco and other companies to generate donations. We have also benefited from adhoc donations from other individuals or groups within our community. Unfortunately our Summer Gala 2021 at the end of the reporting year was cancelled, so refunds were processed after the year-end.

The CIO has supported local causes to the sum of £6,327, and donated £1,000 to Lions Clubs International Charities during this period for International disasters through the LCIF disasters fund.

Covid 19 Response

The CIO continued to deliver food parcels and collected grocery supplies weekly from Tesco; put bins out; picked up/delivered a reclining chair and undertaken bespoke shopping for many residents. A number of our volunteers were also involved in various parts of the vaccine roll-outs, including administration tasks, dosing and marshalling at vaccine sites.

Vision

Lions continue to support “Vison” by collecting donated spectacles from “Bins” sited in the district.

Youth

A large number of our donations and projects this year were aimed at helping younger people including donations of laptops and equipment to those in need, supporting scholarships, providing hi-vis jackets to school and supporting some respite for a family.

Other Support in the Community

We donated towards raised beds for use in the community, continued to distribute Message in a Bottle, and supported other local groups such as In Bloom and Womble groups.

Membership

Membership of the CIO at the end of June 2021 was 33 active members, with 1 at large. Members meet twice a month and take part in social and fundraising activities of the CIO.
