St Austell carries this out by operatng 41
Interest Groups. They are accessed by the local
community primarily at our rented suite of
meetng rooms in St Austell.
A smaller number of groups meet at other
commercial premises more suited to the needs
of the group such as dancing.
There is a good mix of both physically actve
interest groups such as Tai Chi, and groups
which are easily accessible to those with
mobility issues. Book Clubs are partcularly
popular, and the high numbers expressing
interest means that four groups are now
running.
More intellectually demanding groups such as
Bridge and languages are successful, and for the
able bodied there are both short walk and long
walking groups.
Paintng, singing, potery, drama, and ukulele
groups address the needs of artstcally inclined
members.
St Austell U3A recognises the issues faced by
older people who live on their own and a new
Interest Group has been set up specifcally to
address this.
New groups ofen get created through the
members cofee morning networking actvites
that take place twice a month, and through
presentatons by specialists in their feld such as
Shelter Box.
