Trustees. Re ort The Trustees present their annual report together with the financial statements of Thirsk and Northallerton Lions Club Charitable Incorporated Organisation (the Charity) for the 12-month period ending 30 June 2023. The Trustees confirm that the Annual Report and financial statements of the Chanty comply wtth the current statutory requirements, the requirements of the Charity's governing document and the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities. issued in March 2015. Structure Governance and Pllana ement Thirsk and Northallerton Lions Club Charity registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on the 5th September 2017. The Club Charter was transferred to the new CIO from 1 April 2018. The Constitution stipulates that the minimum number of trUSt￿S shall be three and the maximum ￿e1Ve. The President, Secretary and Treasurer are all mandatory trustees. Any member taking up those posts must be a trustee. The process for the appointment of trustees is stipulated in the Constttution. A 'Trustees' meeting is held when required, and in any case every two months. This meeting manages the governance of the club as set out under the Charitable Incorporated Organisation Constitution. The Charity's Insuran￿ requirements are covered under Lions Clubs Intemational Multiple District 105 insurance arrangements. Objects The Objects of the CIO are such purposes as are exdusively charitable in England & Wales. including in particular.. the advancement of cttizenship by: promoting the principles of gofxl citizenship".

encouraging members to take an active interest in the civic. cultural, social and moral welfare of the communty", providing a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest" provided that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by members" encouraging seNice-minded people to serve their communty without personal reward and encouraging the promotion of high ethical standards in commer￿, industry, professions, public works and private endeavours; supporting youth to develop their skills, capacities and capabilrties to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals., promoting the Voluntary Sector for the public benefft by associating with local authorities in a common effort to advance education and provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation to improve the conditions of lrfe of people in local. national and intemational communities., promoting volunteenng" the relief of poverty and the relief of those in need in particular by providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief- the advancement of health or the saving of lives by preventing avoidable blindness, assisting disabled people to lead independent lives or helping to prevent or manage health issues; promoting for the benefit of the public the conservation protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment; andlor promoting communty participation in healthy recreation. The trustees confirm they have complied wilh the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidan￿ on public benefit 'Charities and Public Benefiv. This year the CIO have continued to provide public benefft, and we will explain how this has been achieved in this report. All the administration expenses of the CIO are deatt with through the 'Administration Account. the balance of which does not include any money raised from members of the public. The trustees can confirm that the CIO d￿S not have any outstanding liabilities or debts. The CIO has a grant making policy, all applications are considered by the trustees at their meetings. The trustees then make recommendations which are considered by all the members of the CIO. The procedure for this process is outlined within the constitution.

Donations In this 12-month period the club had an income of £7,648.98. We continued to provide service activities where possible including members of the club assisting wrth communty activities supporting the vulnerable. We were able to support three families after been contacted by other organisations, providing in one case emergency funds and in two cases the purchase and fittings of washing machines to families in crisis. Our Sants Sleigh was successful again this year. We changed things slightly because of local li￿nsIng arrangements. Bames Explorer Scouts got a li￿n￿ to cover some extra days in a second week and banked £696.00, this accounts for slightty lower takings this year being shown inn the accounts and the fact there was no other donation to Bames Explorer Scouts. The CIO donated £1,781 to Lions Clubs Intemational Charities during this period, including £500 to the disaster appeal for Turkeylsyria earthquake.. The CIO have supported local causes to the sum of £1.851, including donating £500 to Brompton Juniors u14 football tearn. During the year the CIO also helped to marshal the Yorkshire Lasses Bike Ride (no fee as all their income go to Can￿r Charities). the Moors and Dales Run (MaDRun) over the Yorkshire Moors from Swainby and at Kiplin Hall, just outside Northallerton and assisting Knaresborough Lions on their bed race day. The CIO continues to ty and recruit new members however this is proving to be a challenge. Membershi Membership of the CIO at the end of June 2023 was 7 active members.
