WINDSOR & ETON ROTARY CHARITY

Trustees' Report for the year ended 30th June 2021

Details of the Charity and its Trustees and Advisors are given on the previous page.

Structure, governance and management

Windsor & Eton Rotary Charity (the Charity) is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and was registered as a charity on 22nd August 2017, Registered Charity number 1174335

The Charity is governed by a written constitution. The Trustees are the only members of the Charity and their initial periods of appointment are stated in the constitution. The Trustees manage the Charity's affairs.

Objectives and activities

The objects of the Charity are the relief of the poor and needy or for the benefit of such other charitable institutions, societies and objects as the Trustees shall, in duly constituted meeting, from time to time decide.

Funds are raised for the Charity by the members of the Rotary Club of Windsor and Eton. The main activity undertaken for the public benefit in relation to the Charity's objects is the making of grants. The Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit and confirm that the charity meets the criteria.

Achievements and performance

The Charity paid out £24,836 in grants and donations during the year. These grants covered a wide range of worthy causes, as disclosed in the accounts, in response to both crises and short and longer term needs locally, nationally and internationally.

For a second year the main fund raising activities, the Summer Fayre and Duck Race, could not be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The only fund-raising event that did take place in the year was a Christmas quiz.

The Charity continued to receive donations from Rotary Club members and others, in response to the Covid 19 pandemic, to support Windsor Foodshare and Windsor Homeless projects. The Trustees oversee investment strategy, taking advice from their stockbroker as necessary. There were no changes to the Charity's investment portfolio in the period. The market value of the portfolio increased by 17.0% (£30,150) in the period and yielded £7,395 in dividends. Currently only the income from the portfolio is available to the general fund from which all payments of general fund grants are made.

Financial review

The Trustees do not have a numerical policy on reserves; simply to hold a balance of funds that enable a rapid response to emergency needs and, also, to grant towards applications for help from local, national and international causes.

The reserves (i.e. the net asset value) at 30th June 2021 stood at £249,992 of which £39,826 related to the General Fund and the Trustees confirm that is adequate for the policy stated above. The Trustees are not aware of any financial risks to which the Charity is exposed other than the possible reduction in market value of the investment portfolio.

Declaration

The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees' Report above.

Signed on behalf of the Charity's Trustees

C M A Simon Date: 20th September 2021 Chairman of the Trustees
