Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

1. Introduction. Information for new Members: - The aim of the Southbourne Men’s Shed is to support men of retirement age (or no longer in employment), to make new friends, share interests, learn new skills or simply come along and socialise over a cup of coffee.

2. Membership. Our current membership is 28 and our AGM was held on 9[th] May

3. Projects/ Initiatives Undertaken.

During the past year we have had regular adverts and articles in the Village Magaziney. We attended the Southbourne Annual Parish meeting in May where we presented a report ‘SMS since Covid Lockdown’ and in September attended the ‘Southbourne Shouts’ event in the village hall and made some contacts with local business and organisations but with almost no general public in attendance our core audience was missed. The events we have been at, VH Plant Fair and Christmas Craft Fair have made worthwhile income for us and increased our local profile. Our website brings in a steady trickle of enquiries, sometimes generating income. The Sweet Trolley last summer being one such, about £100 profit on a £200 sale. Other work which springs to mind are the Brook Meadow Benches, thank you Terry, various benches re furbished and the bird boxes for Sussex Wildlife which went to the school (great to see that request back) which brought in relatively large chunks of extra income. When this combines with the steady flow of other smaller jobs it totals a worthwhile sum. So if you are involved in making, growing, selling or minding the shop then thank you all.
