Section D Achievements and erformance p
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
1. Introduction.
Information for new Members: - The aim of the Southbourne Men’s Shed is to support men of retirement age (or no longer in employment), to make new friends, share interests, learn new skills or simply come along and socialise over a cup of coffee.
Unfortunately, our year has suffered owing to the Covid 19 outbreak and Members have endured a long shutdown during which time they have been unable to meet. and our proposed A.G.M. has been postponed. Nevertheless, all our members have been safely isolating during this period.
Our Secretary (Doug Meany) has been in contact with most members to enquire on their health and wellbeing during this enforced period of lockdown. Thank you, Doug, for this invaluable and necessary action.
2. Membership.
Our current membership is 44 and we continue to isolate until 19th July owing to the Covid 19 Pandemic.
It is with great sadness that I must report the resignation of our Financial Officer, Andrew Bloxham. I personally thank Andrew for all his hard work, commitment and loyalty over the years to S.M.S. and I am certain the Members will join with me in wishing him well in his future endeavours both within S.M.S. and in his personal life.
The election of a new Treasurer will take place at the A.G.M to be held on 17[th] August, 2021.
Many thanks to our Secretary (Doug Meany) for organising weekly on-line ZOOM Meetings for our Members during March, 2021
3. Publicity (Fundraising and Sponsorship).
Covid has dramatically affected our Shed this year with it being closed for the majority of it. We have however received a grant of £1000 from the local council to support us during this period.
4. Projects/ Initiatives Undertaken.
None this year due to Covid closure.
3. In Remembrance.
It is with sad hearts that we remember the passing of Roy Dunstan and Mike Turner – they were great model railway enthusiasts. We will miss them.
5. Committee.
In conclusion, I give my personal thanks and appreciation to fellow Members of the Committee for their loyalty, support, and advice
