Section C Objectives and activities

Like most charities, KOAC was affected by the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic.

We had released a statement in March 2020 confirming that we would not be organising events due to concerns around the high risk of infection to the people we help – this was to be reviewed in April 2020 but was extended with monthly reviews. This coupled with a higher level of patients isolating meant we have been unable to send many applicants on experiences during the pandemic. As a board, we also made the decision to actively step back during the pandemic as it was felt that other fund-raising entities, such as NHS charities were rightly being supported during this time. Prior to the pandemic taking over, KOAC and its trustees were anticipating a Summary of the main activities undertaken for the record year for us on both applications and therefore, experiences organised. As it was, the numbers of people we were able to help, and the number of applications public benefit in relation to was significantly lower than anticipated. these objects During the summer months, which resulted in restrictions being eased and some form of normality ensuing, we were able to send some applicants on experiences and we contacted all those that had applied in the previous year to confirm we were back up and running. We did run our 12 Days of Christmas Auction and once again sponsored the Newport Marathon, although the latter was postponed to October 2021. Further events that we held throughout the year were a Draw our Mascot competition, at the time of writing we have had a winning design drawn up to professional levels and are finalising the design to use in our marketing and social media.

Section D Achievements andperformance
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
The 12 Days of Christmas Auction continues to be a success, the number and
quality of the items remained high and resulted in the charity making £2,346.
On the back of the World Record and the momentum this created, we had
hoped for a high level of applicants and were confident we would see another
year of growth – however as explained this was not the case due to Covid.
2019– 2020
Applications – 34
Applicants Helped – 16
2020– 2021
Applications – 2
Applicants Helped – 1
This has resulted in us carrying larger funds than we would have liked as a board,
however, we are hopeful that this will not remain the case for much longer and
have already seen an increase in experiences organised in 2021.
We were fortunate to be nominated for New Adventure Travels charity of the
year, which was put to a public vote. We came a very respectable 6thin the vote
out of over 30 charities.
