| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | The setting serves an area in South Wales which includes some of the most disadvantaged children and families in Wales. The focus of its work is to improve the life chances for the children in its care. This is delivered in several ways, including supporting and developing the Welsh language skills of children from Welsh speaking backgrounds and through introducing the Welsh language to children who come from non-Welsh speaking backgrounds. The Trustees acknowledge that providing an opportunity for all children to flourish bilingually will not only increase their chances of employment as adults, but will also provide an opportunity to experience the culture and heritage of Wales. The pre-school setting also works closely with the Local Authority who provides staff training on best practice and on the early identification and support of children with emerging needs. The pre- school setting staff assess and plan activities to identify areas of need and put in place preventative work to support the children’s progress. |
