Section C Objectives and activities Section C Objectives and activities
Summary of the objects of the
charity set out in its
governing document
Summary of the main
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects (include within
this section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guidance

benefit)
The relief of sickness and preservation of good health by providing
psychotherapy services for members of the public who are experiencing
mental health needs not met by statutory services and are unable to
access therapy due to insufficient financial means.
Maybe Southwest Charity meets these objectives by:
Assessing recipients psychological needs. Assessments are carried out
by a qualified psychologist and are free of charge to the recipient.
Raising funds to pay for the services of self-employed psychotherapists
who meet the criteria of the charity; including enhanced DBS checks,
insurance, membership of a professional body, sufficient qualifications
and experience, or under the supervision of an appropriate training body.
Allocating recipients to a suitable therapist for an agreed length of time,
to be reviewed and extended if funding is available.
Organising and running therapeutic art groups for adults and children.
Groups to be facilitated by self-employed, appropriately trained
therapists.

Section D Achievements and performance

Clients from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, including those who are homeless have received support. Mental health issues addressed include complex trauma, child abuse, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, personality disorders and dissociative disorders. Recipients have expressed their gratitude and feedback has shown that recipients have felt their experience of MAYBE to be caring and positive.

Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves

At the end of this financial year MAYBE has over £20,000 funds remaining, £8000 of which have already been allocated to recipients in Bristol. Further recipients are waiting for allocation amounting to the predicted sum for the coming year of a further £16,000 if appropriate funding can be achieved. However, allocation to recipients will not be made until funding is confirmed and Maybe Southwest will retain £2000 reserve to ensure continuity of care for clients already receiving therapy who may require longer treatment than expected.

Further financial review details (Optional information)

• Future plans MAYBE is slowly expanding in Bristol. At present the charity continues to recruit therapists to work with the charity, to increase the number of therapist hours available.

The recent allocation of a Community Lottery Fund Grant, alongside the reserves donated over the course of the last two years supports this expansion. Continued more sustainable sources of funding will continue to be sought over the year ahead.

We are now offering a Voluntary Student Therapist placement and hope to offer two further placements during this financial year should suitable applicants apply.

Section F Declaration
