Jan 10[th] Re-commenced Monday meetings at the back of All Saints Church, adjacent to small kitchen and close to disabled toilet. High ceiling and well-ventilated space. Av 14 attendees in January incl 2 new men. Covid protocols remain in place – heat gun; masks; spacing.

Feb 24th Manned a table at Community Action Day at All Saints Church organised by Thames Valley Police and Abri Housing Association. Met Lisa Stevens, Tesco Community Champion for Dedworth, who has since agreed to sponsor our food requirements for our Queen’s Jubilee barbecue on 1st June. Roy Bernard and John Ireland attended and have since joined the group.

Feb 28[th] Group fish and chips lunch

Apr 28 Birds of Prey excursion, Feathers & Fur Falconry Centre, Moss End Garden Centre, Bracknell. Lunch in Robyn’s Nest Café for 17. 12 participated and 5 watched in the birds of prey flying activity. Own cars used – no fuel claims in exchange for a free lunch and entrance fee paid. Sandwich order phoned through the day before. Very successful event with good photos.

May 27 TESCO Dedworth in-store Community Outreach – Friday from 10.00am to 2.00pm. Table in the foyer to talk to customers, gave leaflets to more than a dozen men or mums with an old dad at home. Table manned by Tim, Malcolm, Bruce, Eric, Mike.

Jun 01 QEII Jubilee Barbecue at All Saints Church. TESCO sponsored the food and drink, and Les Bradfield of TVP was chef. 36 guests attended, including members with a partner/family member. Invited guests in attendance: Sir Michael Parkinson (Patron); Les Bradfield (TVP chef); Lisa Stevens (TESCO Community Champion and sponsor); Andrew Johnson (RBWM Leader and Cllr); Samantha Rayner (RBWM Deputy Leader and Cllr); Helen Price (RBWM local Cllr): Sue Morgan (All Saints Church Warden).

Jun 25 Windsor & Eton Rotary Club Summer Fair at Alexandra Gardens, Windsor. Saturday from 10.00am-5.00pm, Tim’s car took our display materials and parked on site. Incentives for public to drop coins in our MM collection pods (provided by Moore Ewing): guess the weight of the cake (baked and organised by Simon Bottomley); guess the number of jelly beans in a jar (organised by Tim). Also, a framed picture donated by Bruce and Cecile Henderson was sold for £12. Total cash income: £42.28 deposited. Expenditure: £10 table hire; £23.29 jar and sweets. Many leaflets given, good awareness boost.
July 07 BA Engineering, Heathrow, minibus trip for Windsor group members organised by a family member of one of the group. July 13 RAF Hendon coach joint excursion with Maidenhead group Sept 26 Fish and chips lunch Oct 10 Tim gave a brief talk on managing your mental health on World MH Awareness Day Oct 13 3 representatives attended the funeral of late group member, Moore Ewing Nov 14 Dave Scarborough, Climate Emergency Coalition Dec 08 Christmas Lunch at the Prince Albert pub-restaurant, Windsor.
NOTE New members joined at regular intervals during the year, including referrals from GP surgeries, NHS Social Prescribers and Windsor Homeless Project – three men homed in Dedworth, two of whom have become regular attendees. By December, attendance had increased to 16-17 each Monday.
