Dementia Yorkshire Annual Report and Account 1st May 2024_ 30th April 2025 Our Services May 2024- April 2025 Throughout this period, we provided themed entertainment and attivity sessions designed to be dementia friendly and be enjoyed by individuals livin8 With dementia, and their carers. We continue to work with our local community group. running a stsll at the Woodthorpe Summer Festival, which helps to raise awareness of dementia and to encourage more people to visit the charity's monthly sessions. We welcome carers who have made friends and continue to benefit from the sessions after their loved one has passed. Our activity sessions are led by our dedicated trained volunteers. The monthly sessions continue to be person centred, with activities desi8ned to focus on the interests of those who attend. We value the opinions of all those who use our services and encoura8e them to feedback any suggestions of new themes or attivities for future sessions in addition to regular favourite themes. Attivity sessions for the year 2024 - 2025 have included visits from Fire & Rescue 'Safe and Well, with useful and helpful information for members and carers, music-based games and themed pirture quizzes, 'educational' quiz on eatin8 and hydration, boccia and new age kurlin& craft attivities, paintin& and making Christmas cards. for example. We had visits from local primary school children for world book day and a Christmas exchange and performance of Christmas songs and performances from an accordionist, playin8 a variety of well-known music including tunes from arounds the world, and a local ukulele band. We also provided light refreshments at each session, which indude fruit, cake and drinks to cater for dietary needs. Our sessions are free and are attended by individuals living with dementia, their, carers and friends. Dementia Yorkshire had a very successful year. Registered Charity Number: 1172715
Annual Report and Accounts for the period I" May 2024- 30 April 2025 YORKSHIRE Awareness and understanding in the Community Dementia Yorkshire continues to work to improve awareness and understanding of Dementia within the local community. In July 2024 we took part in a local festival run by the local community group. We h'ad our own volunteer led ftsndraising stall to raise funds and awareness through the local cornrnunity. Participating in this event brought awareness of the charity to a large local audience and as a result of this some of those who hadn't been aware of Dementia Yorkshire now attend and benefit from the monthly activity sessions. Dementia Yorkshire has continued to work closely with a local primary school on an intergenerational project, meeting several times in the year. In Offember 2024, a group of pupils came to the groups Christrnas Party to perform a selection of Christrnas songs and participate in a Christmas Card exchange. In March 2025 another group of pupils joined our activity session for World Book Day, sharing their favourite books and discussing their favourite characters. The project has been welcomed and enjoyed by both age groups and we hope to continue this in coming years. Trustees and Volunteers We currently have 5 Trustees. 5 Volunteers and O paid employees. All our services and fundraisin8 are carried out entirely by volunteers.
