Awareness and understanding in the Community
Dementia Yorkshire continues to work to improve awareness and understanding of Dementia
within the local community. In July 2024 we took part in a local festival run by the local community
group. We h'ad our own volunteer led ftsndraising stall to raise funds and awareness through the
local cornrnunity.
Participating in this event brought awareness of the charity to a large local audience and as a result
of this some of those who hadn't been aware of Dementia Yorkshire now attend and benefit from
the monthly activity sessions.
Dementia Yorkshire has continued to work closely with a local primary school on an
intergenerational project, meeting several times in the year. In Offember 2024, a group of pupils
came to the groups Christrnas Party to perform a selection of Christrnas songs and participate in a
Christmas Card exchange. In March 2025 another group of pupils joined our activity session for
World Book Day, sharing their favourite books and discussing their favourite characters. The
project has been welcomed and enjoyed by both age groups and we hope to continue this in
coming years.
