DRAFT Northampton & Lamport Railway CIO The charity's policy on reserves The Trustees have considered the level of free reserves (as opposed to funds belng held for future projects or set aside for unplanned potential emergencies) necessary to bo mointainod by tho CIO should equato to approximatgly 3 years of normal operating expendrture is desirable. This means an amount in the region ot L16- 20,000. At the end of the year 2023 the free reserves stood at £42,516. Flnanclal rlsks The greatest risk faced is that the expenditure outruns income. Further acquisitions and stock refurbishment continue in support of the charity's objectives. Looking forward we need to build our regular income to a level that exceeds planned expenditure and thereby allow reserves to create a buffer. Further grant applications will help fund capital type projects. Additional Infomiatlon When we have issued grants to NSRL a grant agreement is produces for each grant, which formalises what NSRL will use the money for. We are not the sort of charity that routinely issues grants to other bodies (apart from NSRL), so we don't need a policy on who we will fund grant amounts to. Our funders and supporters are varied. We apply to different bodieslorganisation depending on the project. We don't have anyone that we apply to regularly (i.e. annually) like some charities do for their service delivery costs. Signed on behalf of the charity's trustees.. Signed Colin Haddon, Trustee Date
