Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | The refurbishment of Meni Curve PHU was completed and work started on Layagboray PHU. These projects have been enthusiastically and gratefully received by the communities they serve and by the DHMT. We continue with our education programme, via scholarships, and were able to fund 4 people under this scheme, with qualifications ranging from Community Midwife, SRN, and two qualifications under Community Health Sciences – BSc and Diploma. The mentoring programme has yet to get off the ground, despite the support of the DMO, Dr. Yilla, as we were unable to find someone to lead the project for us in Kambia. We have now agreed to split the workload between a small group of people who will lead it between them. We were very grateful to receive a donation of £1,000 from the Dumbreck charity and £1553 donation via Much Loved in memory of Bernie Cannon. |

Financial Review
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | Income reduced marginally from the previous financial year despite the receipt of a donation from another charitable trust. Expenditure increased, however, in line with plans agreed by the Trustees, with the purchase of various items of medical equipment for shipment to Kambia and the provision of financial support to refurbish 2 Peripheral Health Units(PHUs) in the District. The Trustees have continued to consider the ongoing life and activities of the Charity. They are very much aware that its continued existence is to some extent dependent on the level of funds held and, as such, efforts continue to add to these funds going forward. In the opinion of the Trustees the level of Unrestricted funds of £39,232 held at 31st March 2024 is adequate for short term purposes. |
|---|---|---|
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | The Trustees aim to hold a level of reserves which is adequate for short term purposes. |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | £39,232(Unrestricted £33,312; Restricted £5,920) |
