Charity's principal address

Trustees who manage the charity

Description of the charity’s Governance

The Ken and Marjorie Charitable Trust is constituted by a Trust Deeded Dates Dated 08 March 2017 and new Trustees are appointed by the Trustees.

The Charity is managed by a number of volunteer unremunerated trustees all who are children of Ken and Marjorie Robertson.

The Trustees aim to meet formally in person two or three times per year or when appropriate projects have been identified.

The Trust does not respond to speculative requests

Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document

For the public benefit to further such exclusively charitable purposes under the laws of England and Wales as the trustees decide with particular reference to purposes to enhance young people in educating and the arts, support those with mental health issues, for the care of the elderly and for the support of charities or community groups operating within the borough of Elmbridge.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects

The charity has continued to support a number of local charities

The charity continued to support maintenance, media, audio visual and streaming at St Erconwalds Walton on Thames.

They made a further grant for fuel to send a lorry full of donated items for young people to Ukraine £3,200.

They spent £2946.85 for a music program which subsidises the teaching of music to the pupils of St John Bosco College Battersea. The school supports children in a deprived innercity area with considerably above-average entitlement to free school meals and special needs students.

The trustees awarded a maintenance grant of £750 to a student attending the Italia Conte Drama School. This is being split over the three years of the course. Two payments were made with the third due in 2024

Finally, the charity made a grant of £3,000 to the Soroptimist of Elmbridge for their 2024 international Friendship Weekend. This will see Soroptimists from a number of clubs come to the UK. A fuller report will be included in 2024.

Chairman’s Report

This is the sixth year that the charity has been in operation. The trustees believe that these are the sorts of projects that Ken and Marjorie Robertson would have been proud to be associated

We have received a number of speculative applications which we did not consider nor did we have the resources to respond or fully read.

Our objective continues to be to spend relatively small amounts unless we are able to raise additional specific funding for a project.

Further financial review details

As recorded in the last report the charity received the final payment from the estate of Marjorie Robertson on 3[rd] January 2023 of 61,132.90.

On the 2nd January 2024 a repayment was made to Andrew Robertson of £9978.48 which covered payments he made on behalf of the charity for the period 2020-2023 and had awaited the receipt of funds from the estate of Marjorie Robertson. Now that all funds have been received from the estate it is not envisaged that such payment on behalf of the charity will occur again.

Signed on behalf of the charity’s trustees
