We have developed a variety of programmes and communication tools in order to reach and appeal to as many people in the community as possible. All our activities and programmes are led by small teams of volunteers from the community. We also have a number of partnerships with the Universty of Sheffield that involves a number of departments providing resources and research for the community. Section D Achievements and performance 1. Tho Kelham Community Market.. this was hatted under COVID-19 restrictions. Summary of the main achlevements of Iho charlty durlng tho year 2. During 2020 the Sheffield City Council established a Low Traffic Neighbourhood that enabled a new day-t¢>day public spa(£ to be Created on a pedestrianised bridge. This has given KINCA the opportunity, in partnership wlth the local Council, to begin to develop this ¢ommunSty space, evenlually introducing greenery and public $8ating as well as a spac for a variety of outdoors activities 8uGh as "Art on the Bridge". 3. The Arts & Heritage Trail: This was able to continue under COVID- 19 as it involved Individual artists outdoor6. 4. Naomi's Comer: Named after a local wort8r killed in a hit-and-run accident, this has provided the first public greon community space in the neighbourhood. Wlth 8 grant from the Lottery Fund. local craftsmen together wlth community volunteers built a planted seating area. This has become one of the most popular areas for a diver8e range of individuals and group8 to chill and enjoy. It also has a community book exchange and the Council installed a general waste and recycling bin. It is maintslned by a Ioc81 wat8rlng and weeding volunt9er team. 5. Community Beek8eplng: thls was able to continue under COVID-19. 6. Green K81ham'. this is one of our most popular programmes and has sev8ral purposes: i) to steward the river and nature running through the heart of tha Community. ii) to cr8ate new greèn spaces (we have very few belng in th8 city centre), lill provide an opportunlty for people to get to know on6 8nother through exerclse and fresh alr, iv) leam now skills. Apart from continuing the existing programm8s of river cle8n-up8, communlty beek8eplng and developing more green spaces, we continue to develop a ne￿rk of slrateglc and practical partnershiw8 wlth 8 rang8 of local and r6gional groups that enabl6 us to support and develop Int6r-neighbourhood activities. Examplas would be worklng with the Environmenl Agency and a social enterprisè charity together with a wlldlife and a dvers trust to link up a chain of conservation and ecologlcal projects along the Rlver Don. Some of these aclivities were able to continue in be￿een CQVID-19 restrictlons, largely because they 8r8 Outdoors. 7. Guided Walks.. Due to COVID-19 these were halted. Nomially there ar8 three types of guided walks, historical, public art, and naturalist. The walks ar8 intended to suit all ages and abiliti8s and are a way of géntly tipping pwple into oxercise. 8. Clean Air Monitoring: we continue to look after a number of NO2 monitoring points across the neighbourhood that are collected by community volunteers for laboratory analysls monthly and form part of the wider air monitoring strategy a¢r￿S the city. 9. The Neighbourhood Plan.. During 2020, because of COVID, activity was limitgd. but the Hèritage Group for the plan Commissioned a professional revlew of historic buildings in the area and conducted a survey of residents for their favourite buildings to be maintalned. Section D Achievements and performance 10. "The Islander.: this was a new project. This is a full colour newsletter in a magazine fomat steered by a local residents, team of very skilled people. It is hugely popular and contains local interviews, updates on projects, opportunities for communty participation. and local news. The newsletter is funded by l¢xal council Ward Pot funds and donations. 11. COVID-19 ProleGts: 1 J One of our most astonishing achievements in the first day of lockdown was the establishmont of a COVID-19 Community Support group. Withln 24hrs one of our group had set up a dedicated mobile number for people who needed assistance, everything from food and medication to dog walking. Within 2 days we had nearly 400 people sign up to volunteèr. 2) With the initial household lockdown we parthered up with our local artists collective to create the 'Tiles Pmjecf. Using the local community store as a hub. people were able to pick up wet clay tiles that they could impress as they wtshed at home (with assistance of a short YouTube from one of the artists) retum, have fired, and they could then painl at home. All the tiles were then displayed on an outside wall at the community store with creators. names next to them. 3) The l¢xg1 community store immediately became a hub for the community- in the e8rfy days providing a safe food shopping space. but also. more importantly, an opportunity for people isolated to see and engage in conversation with someone else. We also set up and outdoor Yalking benches. at the store where people ￿￿Id socially distance but talk. 12. Clean Kelham: 11 Despite COVID-19 we were able to maintain litter-picking, initially through individuals volunteering when allowed out for 1-hour walks, and laler during the mix of restrictions. 2) In bel￿een lock-down breaks we were able to devalop a very Productive partnership with the local Council that enabled all the current public bins in the neighbourh(x)d to be replaced with modem dual generallrecycling ones with sensors for collection. We also increased the number of bins on the streets. The Council also provide us with equipment such as litter-picking sticks and bags. 3) As the neighbourhood was still classified as an industrial area {lasl review 10 years ago) street cleaning was only conducted every 17 weeks. We now heve an 89re8ment for street leaning every 2 weeks. All our acts'vilies are steered by volunteers. Durfng COVltk19 we were unable to have communty meetings. TAR Marth 2012
