Summary of the Main Achievements of the Charity for the Year

The Trustees continue strong links with the Town Hall Trustees and Helmsley in Business to ensure support for Helmsley Library is ongoing.

Volunteers play a major part in the services provided. Recruitment is ongoing and showed a steady increase during the year.

The Library takes part in town activities including Small Business Saturday, Christmas Tree Festival and Window Trails.

A Code Club continues to be led by one of our volunteers attracting children from local primary schools.

The local school brings classes to the Library on a weekly basis. We have also made links with another early years provider.

Volunteers visited local primary schools to encourage children to take part in the the Summer Reading Challenge and then to present certificates on completion.

Statistics shows a small rise in footfall and active borrowers.

Reserves Policy

At 31st March 2021 total reserves (all unrestricted and held as cash) amounted to £21,811. The trustees aim to build up reserves to cover 12 months of a normal year’s running costs, approximately £12,000. Grants are currently secured to 31st March 2021 and the trustees consider that that current and future sources of funding or support will be more than adequate for the charity's needs for at least twelve months from the date of this report.
