Notes To the Accounts March 2024
1 Membership Fees for both 22/23and 23/24 where £15 for the year from 31st August
Since July 2023we have received £7,885 of subs. Around 5/12 of these relate to the next financial year
This is calculated as £3,285. Fees for 2023/24 were first collected in July2023.
2 Membership Fees payable to our Parent U3a Trust are paid on an annual basis.
£1,972 for 2023/24 was paid in April 2023 for the year form 1st April 2023.
4 Accounts are prepared on a Receipts and Payments basis
5 General Meetings were held through the full year 23/24 at no charge
6 The direct mail costs is the costs of the Third Age Trust Magazine.
8 Social Trips which are available to all members are accounted for in the general fund. The social expenditure also includes cost relating to convenors meetings
In 2022/23 social trips were treated as being part of the interest groups.
Last year social trips income was £9,578 expenditure was £10,078 and the social balance included in the interest group balances was £1,168
The balance of £1,168 has been transferred to the general fund as it belongs to the full membership
9 Interest Group balances represent amounts held on behalf of the Interest Groups.
Each Interest Group is self funded but grants from the general fund can be made in special circumstances
10 Admin costs include £493 for the Beacon IT system and £184 of general admin costs
The General Admin costs mainly relate to the cost of producing and distributing Newsletters for those without e mails
11 As at 31st Mar 2024 the major interest group balances were table tennis £500 and bridge club £641
£1,166 of interest group hall rental in 2023/24 was paid in April 2024
12 As at 31st March 2024 there were £1,323 of costs relating to 2023/24 still outstanding.
£90 was a social trips refund with the remaining £1,233 being hall rental of which £1,166 related to interest groups
13 Sundry income is £20 for use of table tennis tables and £50.90 contra with interest groups as non active group balances were cleared plus a £1 donation.
14 £150 deposit for the convenors meeting to be held in May 2024 was paid in 2023/24
15 Sundry expenditure was made up as follows: £
