In Botswana - where 20% of people live below the poverty line - access to affordable veterinary care is limited. MAWS (UK) raises funds to provide free animal welfare services in Maun, where more than 20,000 dogs owned by low income villagers have been sterilised and vaccinated by international veterinary volunteers.

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are:a) For The Benefit Of The Public To Relieve The Suffering Of Animals In Need Of Care And Veterinary Attention – Whether Stray Animals Or Those Belonging To Underprivileged Persons – And Provide And Maintain Shelter Or Other Facilities For The Reception, Care And Treatment Of Such Animals, Particularly In Botswana.b) To Promote Humane Behaviour By Providing Appropriate Care, Protection, Treatment And Security For Sick Or Maltreated Animals And To Educate The Public In Matters Pertaining To Animal Welfare In General And The Prevention Of Cruelty And Suffering Among Animals, Particularly In Botswana.c) To Conserve And Protect Threatened Or Endangered Species Of Wild Animals For The Public Benefit By Preventing The Spread Of Domestic Diseases Through The Vaccination And Sterilization Of Animals Belonging To Underprivileged Persons, Particularly In Botswana.
