between May – October 2017.
Led by trustees in observation of the
statutory laws and regulations of the
European Union and Greece. We set up
a transportation programme in Elefsina
camp, Athens, Greece. The programme
provided crucial transportation to the
refugee community, aimed at
facilitating social integration and
language workshops. The decision that
led the trustees to setting up this
project is by evaluation of the
refugees’ need on the ground, as
Elefsina camp is located on the outskirt
of Athens, with no direct access to
public transportation to engage with a
wider Greek community at large.
The transportation programme was
able to improve the overall quality of
life of the refugee communities,
empowered refugee members by
enabling them to attend language
classes and conduct leisure activities in
the city centre of Athens. In general,
