FOOD BANK AGM – MAY 2025

As we enter our 12th year, I’m pleased to report that over the past twelve months, we have supported a significant number of individuals with food donations. These included 802 adults, 144 young adults (12–16), and 376 children (0–11), totalling 1322 recipients. This achievement is only possible thanks to the generosity of individuals and organizations who donate food and funds, and to our dedicated team of volunteers who make this project a success each and every week.

Special thanks go to Catherine Leaver , our Church Safeguarding Officer, who delivered Basic Safeguarding Training to the Food Bank volunteers.

This year has brought some challenges. Concerns around best practice in food decanting led to changes within the team, including the departures of Jac and Patrizia . Consequently, the Emergency Food Bank service was adjusted—food bags are now sent directly to the Health & Wellbeing Centre for distribution by Citizens Advice . In addition, we said goodbye to Greg Matthews , who stepped down as Chair of Trustees. We are deeply grateful for their many contributions over the years and have sent letters of thanks in recognition of their service.

Despite these changes, the project remains in a strong position, with healthy food stocks and a stable bank balance.

We are delighted to now receive regular clothing donations from Cotton Traders , which have been a valuable resource for our service users. Some of these donations are passed on to a Church member who supports local homeless individuals.

Our Social Inclusion project continues to offer vital support, with Citizens Advice visiting every two weeks. We were also fortunate to host Futures for Business , who enhanced our services until their funding unfortunately ended.

The Allotment Project , under the enthusiastic leadership of Donna , continues to thrive. Donna has successfully secured funding and coordinated volunteer groups, resulting in another productive harvest.

At Christmas, we received an overwhelming number of gifts for adults and children. Special thanks go to The Chop Shop , whose clients donated generously, and to Bunches , who once again contributed a remarkable volume of goods.

I remain inspired by the unwavering commitment of our volunteers and the ongoing support from our community—both individuals and organizations. We are truly blessed to have so many compassionate people involved in this mission.

Thank you all for your continued support.
