Somalls are one of the communllles In Britain who suffered disproportionalely from th8 covid-19 pandemlc, and the programme involvod 8 carefully curated programmo featuring mental health and wellness experts, emtsrging and established artists as well as Ihe healthcare heroes and frontllne flghters of the past years. SWF 2021 featured a brand-new Somall-Brltlsh Play'muna Knows il All" and a new cohort of both &stabllshed and upcoming artists. The festival dealt with how artists, a¢livisls and musicl8ns are responding and reacting to the global covid-19 pandemic order lo both highlight the arnazing and brave people In the community who stepped forward durlng tttls unprocedented time as well as to look back on th¢ incredible Somalis who we lost lo the pandemic. We also looked al the larger implications of how the BAME community In the UK has b&&n partlcularly affected by covld-19 In partlcular the mental hegllh impllcalions. Highllghls of SWF 2021 Included the book launch of Nadlfa Mohamed's 8ooker Prizè short-1Ssled novel, an 8venlng wlth lconlc wrSter Ahmed Abdl Ggshaan, two sold-oul play performances and a wlde rang8 of the latest Somall book launches. We wer8 able lo host a pre-launch receplSon at the Brllish Library with a soclally4islanced audlen¢e of 200. We also path8r8d with Rich MIX where we hosted 2 sold out nlghls of a brand-new British Somali play and held events in Oxford House, SOAS University as well as a sold-out Closing concert al The People's Palacg, Queen Mary Univ8rsily. The blggest succes8 was that wg were able lo have visiting gu$sts from abroad,. both the Hom, mainland Europe and North America, which Is the stand-out feature that makes our fesllval unique. Through a combinallon of carefully selected onllne hybrid events and 98fely soclal diStan￿d live events we were abl& to host a full festival that includ8iJ panel discussions, book launches, children's enlertainmerjt, traditional dance, a play, live music and poetry performances amongst other things. In putting on this festlval we were able lo su ort the

ommunity post- lockdown by providing a safe space for people to once again interact, discuss important topics and enjoy high quality arts and culture. As part of our natlonwide communlty engagement, we partnered with a local communlty organisalion in Leicester by hosting a sisler-8vent during the weekend of Somali Week Festival In a local community hub where a number ofour artists and vislling gLJests from the Horn were able to perfomi and hold their lalks in a city with a conslderable Somali communlty. As part of Somali Week Festival 2021 we wer8 also able to p8rtner with the Women's Exc81 Centre in Barking by supporting their UK Bla¢k History Month event by providing them with one of our Share Your Talenl cohorts. In SWF we worked with over So artlsls and ¢reatlve8 and wllh an onllne viewership over 70k views wlth other events spannlng from 500 vlews lo sk views, Our In-p8rson audience across the 9 days reached over 800 people total. Para 120 Children's art competition: Dur(ng Ramadan 2021 Kayd created ils first Somali chlldren's art compelillon called 'Ramadan Through a Child's Eyas" whlch showcased creative responses by Som311 chlldren through drawings and other ple￿5 of visual arts- almed at children aged 4- 14. This ini118tive allowed our youngest creatives lo experience havlng a platfom to showcase their work, receive praise, and celebrate their cultural hertlage.
