The pandemic impacted on many of our group activities in the early stages of lockdown. With careful management we have been able to introduce various activities back to site. We now have two areas of allotments, which remained full throughout 2020. These have provided a safe environment for local families and individuals during the lockdown period. The Family Afternoon event took place as usual in February and was very well attended. All subsequent family events were cancelled due to the potential large number of attendees. Despite the schools closure, the AHDB potato growing project (GYOP) initiated by the school gardening club, was completed in June, with the help of one of the club members, who assisted with the harvesting. This allowed crop yields to be assessed and the results submitted to the Summary of the main AHDB project organisers. activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to A range of outside organisations hold their own group sessions at the these objects (include within | gardens, including Connect Project (Top Church Training), Social Art this section the statutory group (Workshop24), and leaders and mentors from Dudley Youth declaration that trustees have | Offenders Service. had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Community support has continued to be provided to local families (on a Commission on public limited basis), via Social Services or other agencies (BHP), through benefit) garden clearance & maintenance. Completed ‘Big Butterfly Count’ highlighting the importance of Hawbush as a site for regional conservation and enviromental protection. Initial work was undertaken, in early winter 2020, for improvementand restoration of our pond. This involved re-profiling, replacement of pond lining and directing a spring water source to maintain water level and water quality. This is important work (to be completed in 2021) to sustain a large population of frogs and newts and associated birds and insects. There is nowa fully equipped workshop on site which allows us to produce a range of woodwork including raised planters, and furniture. These have been made available to local residents as well as improvements to the site. The Trustees confirm they have regard to the Public Benefit as issued by Charity Commission
