Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
The Covid-19 pandemic has still had an effect on the way in which the Charity has operated during 2021 and 2022. Due to still being restricted on visiting schools and holding workshops our education has still been limited to online social media platforms.
We received requests from a couple local families who have reached out to us after giving birth to children with TCS, which was undiagnosed prior to birth. The Charity have provided advice and emotional support to both families.
Due to the nature of one of the children’s condition and the fact they were hospitalised for a significant amount of time the Charity decided to present the parents with a pre-paid credit card with a balance of £500 to help towards the cost of food whilst they were living in hospital accommodation. We also provided them with a travel system that was recommended by another TCS family that will make their lives easier as it provides additional space to be able to transport the additional equipment needed to meet their child’s needs.
The Charity built on its relationship with the Children’s Craniofacial Association (CCA) in the U.S. by sponsoring a place at their annual Retreat for a TCS family to attend. This is a Retreat that we are regularly invited to and which Jono Lancaster attends on our behalf.
The Charity also helped where needed via email, phone and zoom/teams meetings when receiving requests from families asking for advice throughout the year where it wasn’t possible to physically meet people.
