Activities
BWV is a powerful voice for women aiming to make women?s equality in Bristol a reality. We make sure that when key decisions are taken, their voices have been listened to and their concerns acted upon. We bring together women to share ideas, exchange experiences, support campaigns and celebrate success so that we can make Bristol a showcase for women?s involvement, empowerment and equality.
Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are:a) The Promotion, For The Public Benefit, Of The Social Inclusion Ofwomen In The Bristol Area, Who Are Socially And Economicallyexcluded On Grounds Of Their Gender;b) The Promotion Of Equality And Diversity For The Public Benefit Bye.g.i. The Elimination Of Discrimination On The Grounds Of Gender(and Where IT Impacts On Women: Race, Age, Disability,sexual Orientation, Religion Or Economic Disadvantage);ii. The Advancement Of Education And Raising Awarenessiii. The Conducting Or Commissioning Of Other Research Ongender Equality Issues And The Publishing The Results To Thepublicc) The Prevention And Relief Of Poverty Through Undertaking Andsupporting Research Into Factors That Contribute To Women’s Povertyand The Most Appropriate Ways To Mitigate These;in Furtherance Of These Objects, The Trustees Shall:a. Provide A Platform To Ensure That, When Key Decisions Are Taken,women’s Voices Have Been Listened To, And Their Ideas Andconcerns Are Shared And Acted On;b. Develop The Capacity And Skills Of Women In The Bristol Area Insuch A Way That They Are Better Able To Identify And Access Servicesand Organisations, Meet Their Needs, Support Each Other, And Toparticipate More Fully In Society;c. Support Women To Decide The Most Important Issues They Arefacing, And To Influence Public Authorities On How They Can Bestmeet Women’s Needs And Promote Gender Equality;2d. Undertake Research And Consultation To Identify The Barriers Thatprevent Gender Equality And The Social And Economic Exclusion Ofwomen In The Bristol Area And To Publish The Findings;e. Organise Events And Activities That Support Women In The Bristolarea To Participate In Public Life, Take Part In Decision- Making,challenge Discrimination And Close Gender Gaps (e.g. In Pay,education, Access To Services).nothing In This Constitution Shall Authorise An Application Of The Propertyof The CIO For The Purposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With[section 7 Of The Charities And Trustee Investment (scotland) Act 2005]and [section 2 Of The Charities Act (northern Ireland) 2008]
