Structure, Governance and Management
Bushbury Hill Community Action Group (BHCAG) is a resident led voluntary and community organisation that established in 2013, and in 2016 became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
The board of trustees consists of a minimum of three and maximum of twelve trustees. Bushbury Hill Community Action Group actively seek to recruit new trustees.
Eligibility for trusteeship

(a) Every charity trustee must be a natural person.
-
(b) No individual may be appointed as a charity trustee of the CIO:
-
if he or she is under the age of 16 years; or
-
if he or she would automatically cease to hold office under the provisions of clause [12(1)(e)].

(c) Every trustee must be:
-
A resident of Bushbury Hill or
-
Work in Bushbury Hill (including local services) or
-
Operate a business in Bushbury Hill or
-
Operates a business that benefits a significant number of people in Bushbury Hill
Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed for a term of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
Recruitment and Training of Trustees
Where required support is provided to enable people who wish to become a trustee to gain the appropriate skills and knowledge to carry out this role. Following appointment new trustees are provided with a copy of the current version of the constitution/rules, and a copy of the CIO’s latest Trustees’ Annual Report and statement of accounts, along with the Charities Commission latest version of a Trustee Guidance to ensure they are aware of their responsibility as a trustee.

Overview of Bushbury Hill Community Action Group:
Its aim is to improve the quality of life of all residents of Bushbury Hill and the surrounding areas. BHCAG work alongside a number of partner organisations within the area, and have been part of the development and delivery of key projects. Bushbury Hill is an area that is part of the suburb of Bushbury, Wolverhampton, West Midlands and is the most densely populated ward of Wolverhampton. To promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Bushbury Hill and the surrounding area the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object pf improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.

The relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
Overview from the Board of Trustees:
During the last 12 months our volunteers have been working with Bushbury Hill Estate Management Board (BHEMB) and partners from the WV10 Consortium to deliver services at Fifth Avenue Community Centre. We have supported the delivery of the Household Support Fund in the area, alongside opening a new community shop to provide low-cost healthy food to support local people.

We continue to support the delivery of the Funday Mondays 50+ group, providing opportunities for warmth, good company and activities. In addition, we have also worked alongside Bushbury Hill Estate Management Board to further develop our community-based counselling services and extend these beyond the lifetime of last year’s grant.
Children and families are also being supported Pad through a variety of means from cooking sessions P A :] F> ry and food through to music lessons from our very own Rock School. This year we continued our all . Pag oA| support for the HAF programme offering activities and food for over 500 young people per day in conjunction with partners within our area during school holidays. We further complimented this by hosting family-based trips to the seaside <a throughout the summer and a large scale free fun day to finish off the summer holidays. In addition, towards the end of the holidays we support BHEMB to deliver a uniform drive. They purchase new school uniform, and our volunteers also collect donations of second hand school uniform with this then being allocated to those families most in need in Bushbury Hill.
Going forward, our goal is to maximise on the capacity of Fifth Avenue community centre and provide additional support services and groups for local people of all ages.
