The Objects of the CIO are: 1) For the benefit of the public to further the conservation and preservation of the hedgehog species in Gloucestershire.

2) For the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering and distress of hedgehogs in need of care and attention by providing a rescue, care and rehabilitation service for sick, injured, or orphaned hedgehogs with the aim of releasing such hedgehogs back into the wild wherever possible.

3) To advance the education of the public in the study of hedgehogs and in the care, methods of treatment, conservation and habitat of hedgehogs. Wild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue research, rescue, rehabilitate and release native European hedgehogs in order to support and preserve the species for the public benefit. We give talks on our work with hedgehogs to the public including schools, care homes, community groups and similar organisations. In shaping our objectives for the year and planning our activities, the trustees have considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit, including the guidance ‘public benefit: running a charity (PB2)’. Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

We are an RSPCA approved rescue, supported by our vet and we are a member of the British Wildlife Rehabilitation Council.

We are part of the Gloucestershire Hedgehog Network, a local rehabilitation group.

We admitted 394 hedgehogs in 2022 and have maintained our high standards of animal welfare and rehabilitation practices.

The charity has continued to grow in both admissions and volunteers. We now have a team of talks volunteers who give talks to schools and community groups raising awareness of hedgehog conservation.

We have also offered work experience and student placements alongside our regular volunteers.

Wild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue continues to provide free rescue, rehabilitation services across Gloucestershire for sick, injured and orphaned hedgehogs and to raise awareness of hedgehog conservation.
