TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] JUNE 2022
GOVERNING DOCUMENT
The Ferndown Rotary Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) was founded on 22[nd] June 2016 by the Rotary Club of Ferndown.
On 10[th] July 2019, following the merger with the Rotary Club of Parley, the name of the CIO was changed to Ferndown & Parley Rotary Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
The objects of the CIO are: The relief of the poor and needy in Ferndown & Parley, any other part of the United Kingdom or elsewhere in the world, or such other charitable purpose, institution or object as the members of the CIO shall in duly constituted meeting direct.
TRUSTEES
The trustees of the CIO are the President, the President Elect, the Secretary and the Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Ferndown & Parley. Their term of office is 1[st] July to 30[th] June the following year. The following were trustees for the year ended 30[th] June 2022.

MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the CIO fell to only 29 over the course of the year and, due largely to the impacts of Covid on business activity, we received no support from Business Partners.
For 2022-23 there will be renewed focus on gaining new members and Business Partners to support our charitable activities, and there are early signs that this will be successful.
FINANCIAL RESULTS AND ACTIVITIES
Gross income for the year was £25,747.54 (prior year - £36,811.77) and some £17,547.84 (prior year - £16,799.57) was applied to good causes.

Taking account of costs, our funds on deposit have reduced by £2927.58 over the year.
Fund raising was still impacted throughout the year by Covid-19 restrictions and public concern, but our key fundraising events survived and provided most of our funding:

The generosity of Club members, making personal donations, underpinned regular much-needed donations to the Wimborne Food Bank.
The Club’s weekly raffle was organised specifically for and restricted to Rotary Foundation UK.

Running most of our events in the last month of the Rotary Year results in a high level of the funds raised still being held at the close of the year. They remain available for good causes in the following year.
The work of the CIO is organised through committees that recommend proposed activities or projects to the CIO’s Council. Proposals adopted by the Council are put forward to the membership and Trustees of the CIO for agreement.

In the past, the committee organising a fundraising activity has been solely responsible for recommending the use of the funds so raised, and the CIO’s funds have all been notionally attributed to those fundraising committees: Foundation, Service, and International.
At the CIO AGM in November 2021, members approved a proposal to centralise Unrestricted funds. Now, at the completion of any project and on closure of the project’s accounts, all Unrestricted funds raised are transferred to Central funds for use at the discretion of the members, CIO Council and Trustees.
The transfer of funds is reflected in high level of movements (‘Other’) in the CIO accounts. Restricted funds remain attributed to the source project or cause.
Donations from Community Business Partners have not been forthcoming during the past year, but more focus will be placed on securing partner support as business activity recovers post Covid.
Partner funding that is raised will be available to support publicity and marketing of the CIO and contribute, where needed, to establishing projects. These funds are held separately and released at the discretion of the CIO Council.
Foundation funds are all Restricted, destined solely for the Rotary Foundation UK, and are therefore held separately. A repayment to HMRC of a prior year overclaim of Gift Aid, on funds raised for Foundation, has reduced the funds available to be donated this year. There are no further issues of this nature, and we will see a return to normal levels in 2022-23.
The President nominates charities that benefit from profits from various Rotary Club of Ferndown and Parley social events.
